I want to get a small high gain combo for some metal at bedroom levels . . . . PREFERABLY a tube amp. Is getting a small (affordable) high gain tube amp to be played at bedroom levels a dream?? Or should I get solid state?? Any suggestions??

not many bedroom leval high gain tube amps out there.... most use a pedal in front of a small tube amp, or use SS, or Modelers for quiet practices

There's that new Krank thing that's all small and cute. Somebody posted about it a little while ago, pretty sure you can find it on Musician's Friend...

i think kustom makes some little tube amps, crate makes a palamino 5w and a new vtx 30 watt, fender pro jr. is on sale. if you want high gain though, i think the vtx would be a good choice. if you have enough money though, you NEED to check out the mesa boogie 5:25 combo. that thing rocks. it's got great cleans, gain and sounds superb. it can get very loud too, just in case you want to tag it along for band practice one day.

Peavey makes a small 1x12 XXX.

Mesa's DC-3 was 30watts and is pretty brutal.
