In thinking about my effects and what I use, what I love so much I want to upgrade (vibe pedal) and what I might end up getting rid off (fuzzface) it really struck me how little I use my delay.
I've got the Line6 Echo Park. Its actually a pretty feature packed delay with tape, digital and analog modes for every effect, a mod knob which can add vibrato or chorus, and a bunch of modes like slapback, sweep delay, swell, dotted 8th's etc. Even a great tap tempp. Basically a DL4 "lite"
But I just don't use it ever really. My wah pedal gets about a 100x the usage for example. (rmc-3 is simply awesome by the way)
Now obviously I know theres nothing wrong with not making use of an effect but given how common delay is it just surprises me. I think most everyone has a delay pedal right ?
I'm not really into any of that rythmic stuff ala the Edge
I don't do country or rockabilly where slapback would be nice
I'm not playing any lush single note stuff or melodic chordal stuff either
Heck I don't even like a short delay on leads really.
Anymore I'm playing in a bluesy style ala my idol Hendrix or doing some funky stuff.
Maybe just neither of those styles are served well with delay. Jimi obviously didn't have that technology back in the day, and funk is all about staccoto rhythem.
Anyways, just though it was intresting enough of observation to share.
So anyone else who's not a big delay user or who doesn't have one on their board want to chime in ?
