Am really content with my gear..it must be a miracle!

So I've been looking over my gear. I haven't made a purchase in almost a year now. I'm extremely content with what I have and I constantly look at new stuff. Between this forum, the Dr. Z forum, TGP, and the constant barrage of Musician's Friend catalogs, I see a lot of gear and *none* of it has given me g.a.s. Sure I've thought some stuff was pretty awesome, and seen some stuff that I'm sure would be great with my rig, but it has not caused me to want to pull out my pocket book or save up or sell off some gear to buy something else. So I've been happy and content with my rig for almost a year now. Anyone else this way about what they own? I really don't have any desire to buy anything new.

Edit: So I guess I could detail my rig so that you can all share in my joy :)

Larrivee D-05
Gibson ES-135
Gibson SG Special (non-faded, Bigsby added)
Fender Highway 1 Telecaster

Ernie Ball Jr. Volume
Teese McCoy RMC1
Ibanez TS9 Reissue
Fulltone Fulldrive 2
Plexitone Prototype
Boss NS-2

Fulltone Deja Vibe
DLS Tap Echo
Boss TU-2

I only get new gear when I "need" something or it adds something to the toolbox. Last few things have been pedals, always add at least a couple a year... some pickups & there's always audio production stuff but even that's been pretty quiet this last year or so.

This week I bought my first new amp in a few years... but I also sold an amp!

Re: Am really content with my gear..it must be a miracle!

The only thing this year that has called my name was a Bogner Shiva at one point when I played a couple....then I came home and played my amps and remembered how perfect they were for me :)

It's ok Capo. We won't hold it against you or think of you as abnormal.

Great stuff Capo... I like to hear when people are really contented. Just remember though, with a contented heart now you'll get FAT! Lol.... great gear by the way!

Love your rig Capo...i would use everything in that lineup for sure!!!

Re: Am really content with my gear..it must be a miracle!

Haha...I know the feeling. I went almost 10 years without buying a major piece of gear.

It's nice to have the sound you're looking for every time you turn your junk on, and not have to open your wallet at the same time. :D

Re: Am really content with my gear..it must be a miracle!

i have been content for a while... but i still buy stuff because i want it... not that i need it... dam gas!

Re: Am really content with my gear..it must be a miracle!

I'm pretty glad to be apparently immune from gas. Actually the only things I gas for now are new studio stuff for my recording studio. I think I'm about to start opening my doors commercially and also start doing voice overs for commercials and radio spots.

Quality recording gear makes quality guitar gear seem downright CHEAP!!!

True story! I'm just hoping to have a place that works and makes quality stuff for the area. Definitely can't compete in a major city or a major market, but in my small town that's also a center for blues music, I'm one of the best equipped (even with my marginal gear) studios as well as having access to some of the best quality musician's around. I can also do it far cheaper than anyone else out there :)

Playing the bottom card of the rate game is a sure way to loose your shirt...

yeah but that's the advantage I have, I'm not trying to make a living at it. I'm just doing it on the side mostly.

Well... if you're better equipped & get better tones then anyone in the immediate area... then you're "pro" on at least some level. Don't forget about the overhead either. Not just the space, but insurance on the gear... wear & tear... breakage...

Nothing sucks more then blowing something up, like having a mic knocked over that costs more then what you'd make in a week of bookings...

And don't forget... artists don't book studios... they book "people".
