I hate it when this happens. Here I am, unemployed (kinda), money is limited and I have amp gas. GAHH, it drives me nuts. What for, you ask? A Fender Deluxe Reverb RI, that's what.
Back when I was testing out the Rat pedal I bought, I had run it through a couple of different amps at the store besides a Vox AD50VT since that is what I have. One of those other amps was a DRRI. I had my Frankenstrat with me so I could get the best possible scenario to my own rig.
Well, that darn DRRI sounded just awesome. I had kept it relatively clean and used the Rat for the primary distortion. It blew me away at how touch sensitive it was and just how dynamic that amp is. Blues to classic rock to a little heavier rock (with enough distortion from the Rat) was easily possible. I had to keep my focus on studying the pedal since that is what I was there for but I couldn't help but notice how nice that DRRI sounded.
There's no way I could get one right now. And besides, my other amp gas that refuses to go away is for a Mission Aurora. When the time comes for a new tube amp, that's my first choice, probably the 22 watter with reverb.
If anyone wants to gladly donate to an amp fund for me, I won't refuse it...LOL.
