Everyone has their way of setting up their Amp Of course there is so many configurations depending whether you are playing rock, metal, blues, jazz, country. But generally speaking is there a so called proper way to set up an amp.

Re: Amp Setup

No. But there are some rules of thumb:
Amps like to be worked.
Amps prefer to see a load.

Otherwise, it's whatever tickles your pickle.

Re: Amp Setup

To have a nice clean sound, a nice dirty sound and a boost for any solos. Pref I like a multi-channel amp but many like to use pedals.

Re: Amp Setup

For versatility I set my 2 channel amp and pedals as such:

Crybaby Wah

Tube Screamer Copy (max level, low drive) as a lead boost. (Or to push crunch to a biting, snarling overdrive)

Channel 1 (Crunch) set to break up with my guitars volume at about 3/4. (Cleans, crunchy drive)

Channel 2: High Gain at same overall volume (hardrock, punk, metal)

Master EQ all at 8 and adjust to situation.

TC HoF reverb in the loop set to a short spring reverb.

Re: Amp Setup

I find the best way to setup an amp is to start with everything at 12 o'clock and then add and take away as you feel necessary.
If you need help with effects order and such , thats another topic
