Re: Amp with two inputs for lessons...
You might be better served using something like a small mixer; feed both inputs with guitar, and then go out to the amp or into the FX loop.
I do have a small mixer and that thought had occurred to me, in all honesty. I suppose I could just keep the EQs flat on the mixer and that would work.
How about two small practice amps (like Roland Cubes...)?
I'd prefer to just bring ONE amp to the place where I'll be giving the lesson. Right now the student has his own amp that he can use, but I thought it might be nice if i had one amp that we could both use.
I had to teach a bassist (who was filling in for my band's bassist) a bunch of our songs for a gig last month and we used separate cables plugged into a Roland cube's input with one of these..

it worked fine
Another advantage to using on of these is that the volume on either guitar will affect both...so you can effectively mute your student when they get off track.
I've used those y-cable things in prior situations and while it wasn't the ideal solution, it did work.
Almost any vintage style or reissue Fender has two independent channels. The Super Reverb, Twin, Bassman, even the Custom Vibrolux Reverb.
The Tweed amps, as well as the Cystom Vibrolux are in phase so it would work fine.
Well there's a good reason for me to get a tube fender and write it off, haha.
Someone clued me into the Crate Taxi amp, and while it does have two inputs with their own volume and a CD jack in, it only runs off a wall wart which charges batteries and has zero features for tone/effects etc. Like I said the latter is a secondary concern but having reverb and being able to get a basic dirt tone would be nice.
The Roland Cube Street would be perfect if both inputs could go through the guitar channel.
Thank for the input, everyone. I'll think about my options.
