Ampeg BA115 Question

Anyone familiar with these? Do they have enough nuggets to work a gig?? I have one, but its in storage, and even still I cant really dial it up. but as Im playing more bass, I need to know what I can expect out of it if I start jamming.. tthanks

if its not a big room itll work, ive used one on a bunch of gigs. it had a line out but i never bothered with it since the sound guy was a monkey

No reason a 1x15 combo can't work for a gig-

Depending on the loudness of the rest of the band, you might want to have the amp up on a chair or something to bring it closer to ear level.

it's only 100w but with that XLR out it doesn't really lack anything

i'd rather roll up with something in the vicinity of 300w and 4x10 but that's a ton more weight and size than the BA115...nothin wrong with it for what it is.

it depends...

Ive seen blues band bassists gig with a 115 ampeg and sound fine

Ive seen 8x10s in a small club for a death metal band that cant be heard

Its hard to hear for the rock music tho, a bandmate had a 115 and we could barely hear him at practices even, and at gigs his rig was on a chair and barely audible.

also I played thru a peavey 115 tko that was 300 watts at practices and could barely hear myself. also I could not hear any tone/definition.

now I have a gallien kreuger ultralight 2x15 combo that weighs 37 pounds now that is killer, very loud, perfect for jam sessions and gigs, definitely people ask me to turn it down. for bigger gigs I use my ampeg 410hlf ported for lower end, and 400watt line 6 or peavey head.

It's only 100 watts, so on a loud-ish gig in any good size room, you'll have to put it in the PA, or it will get very small, very fast.
