Ampeg Jet/Reverb Rocket?

Re: Ampeg Jet/Reverb Rocket?

The vintage V4s are wicked sounding too if you can find one. VERY loud and clean. Cool retro tones.

is it middier than the fenders? I hear it gets some pretty slick bite.

Have you tried the superocket? 100 watts 2x12. I'm curious about that one too.

yea, i noticed that Superrocket......i would love to find one to play

yes, i would say they are middier than fenders...... and with the treble knob up, the Jet seemed to bite a lot.......i had to have the treble low, but at that point, it was really smooth, and had a great warm hollow tone......and with the old Gemini 1X15......it was just SO warm and mellow, i would love to have it to play on casually......i dont think it would be loud enough for a band, but the tone was so warm and hollow, and just was real easy on the ears if you know what i mean....... i could strum chords and no frequencies stuck out........it was just smooth sounding

oh man, the V4's are completely different beasts........they are heavy as SH!T!..... and they are soo loud, the ones i have played chew Fender Twins to pieces.......its really unmanageble to play that loud, and they stay clean too! they are a little too sterile and hard sounding for my tastes, again, i guess i'm not those really high headroom amps anymore, after playing these mid-wattage ampegs that compress nicely, but don't overdrive too much, they stay fairly clean
