Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

What amps (or variations on amps) do you want to own and use that don't really exist but you'd buy one if they did?

1. Friedman - if Dave made a head that was a a Dirty Shirley with the Buxom Betty's preamp added in as a 2nd channel, I would buy it in a heartbeat. The BB used EL34s while the DS uses 5881s, but I prefer the 5881 side. I just want a real dedicated clean out of that amp without altering the drive channel.

2. Bogner - Take the Blue and Plexi channels out of the Ecstasy 101B, make it a 50w amp with effects loop and their cool built-in boost/standby functions on a remote and that'd be a killer amp.

3. Marshall
- I want them to make a reissue of the vertical input 2204 as a handwired amp with an FX loop or make a 50W, 2-channel version of the Satriani head; like a Satch-version of the JVM205H.

What would everyone else like?

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

EVH LBX 15w with EL34's. They made the 50 & 100w versions with el34s, I am just waiting for the 15w to come out with it also.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

Mine would be a combination of three amps. The three channels of the Mesa/Boogie MkV, with the two channel assignable graphic EQs of the JP2C, and the power amp/Recto tracking of the Road King

Cameron CCV.....oh, they exist. Quite rare these days though.

Thats a pretty brilliant idea..I do not think I've ever heard that idea before anywhere ..a hardwired point to point or tagboard MKII Master Model Lead Marshall..is it even possible?

My brother used to have a '78 JMP 2203 with a PTP mod board. Essentially it was the '78 JMP chassis and transformers with the circuit completely redone PTP. Later on, he had Savage Audio install a tube-buffered effects loop using two of the four speaker outputs.

I love the 2204 too. I'd like a 2204 in the Bassman package. A Marshall JCM 800 4x10 combo. I posted a thread on it a while ago.

As far as your idea, have you checked out the Cieratone 2204 clone? Their catalog says:

The Ceriatone British Style 2204 HW is our take on a timeless amplifier design first introduced in the 1970s.

The 2204 HW 50w amplifier is based on the first “master volume” design in the British Series, and became the tonal inspiration for some of the most coveted rock tones recorded.

Unlike the originals, our 2204 is hand-wired on turret boards. While we will avoid the PCB versus turret board argument, we think you’ll agree our 2204 is something special.

Like other Ceriatone amps, we have labored carefully to select the finest components to suit the design, and the 2204 uses our specially designed, custom transformers for superior reliability, frequency response, and feel.

It sounds at least superficially similar.

A baby Plexi. Not everyone’s interpretations of the Plexi sound that sound more like 3 extra gain stages into a Plexi, but a true way to get get the fat cleans and the awesome crunch of a loud Plexi through maybe a single 12”.

That sounds like an 18 watt (1974) or maybe a 20 watt (2061) if you're into the later 'plexi' sounds. Maybe add PPIV master or power scaling to make the volume a bit more manageable as the 2061 especially is LOUD for the rated wattage. Weber used to make a 1974 kit with full TMB tone stack, and I'm pretty sure Ceriatone does as well.

I've never seen a 15w amp with ONE EL34. That's a class AB tube... is that even electrically possible? I would think you'd need to use EL84s or something similar.

I don't know if it's possible with a single el34, but the Marshall mini Jubilee puts out 20W from a pair of EL34s and the SL-5 combo from a few years ago is 5w from a single 34

I know its not possible, thats why it doesn't exist, but I want it anyways... Thats what this thread is about

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

I would like a two-channel amp where one channel is a solid-state Randall RG100 preamp and the other is a tube Krank with 5881's in the poweramp. Both distorted channels, of course. No cleans for me. :)

I'd never heard of Ceriatone. Just over a G plus shipping for a 2204 clone? Wow... gonna have to look into this.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

Stereo 2x25 watt power amp with EL34s. Soldano is the only company I have seen that has pulled this off, with the Hot Rod 25. Everybody else seem to go for EL84s in amps under 50 watt, and they just sound a little too dainty and refined to my ears.

A Marshall JTM45 in a 2x10 combo format with reverb.

I wonder if there's some reason why they're so plentiful in finnish used market...

Every week or so there's a new used Ceriatone on sale.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

I'd want a Dirty Shirley drive channel with a Mesa Blue Angel clean channel. That clean channel would have switchable power tubes like the amp it is based on does: 6v6s, and EL84s, used together or separate.
