Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

I don’t see why Marshall won’t reissue the Mode Four with a 4,000-watt power section with NOS Western Electric 300B’s and thirty-four effects loops (half series, half parallel). With circuit breakers instead of fuses, toggle power switches instead of rockers, and a seafoam-green jewel light. And Bluetooth.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

I know its not possible, thats why it doesn't exist, but I want it anyways... Thats what this thread is about

I take that back, it is possible. I completely forgot that I own amp like this, the Peavey Windsor Studio, also forgot about amps like the THD Univalve.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

I'd actually like to have back the Marshall I sold in 2007, because it is irreplaceable. It was hand made by Jeff Seal out of Houston Texas. He took my 4212 combo (2205 would be the head version) and handwired the modifications I wanted. It had the clean channel like a Fender... very chimey but warm as well. The 2nd channel was modded Plexi / 2204 flavor. He also put a push/pull switch on the drive channel to give me even more drive if I wanted.... sort of like the Red channel on the JCM 2000. It was actually too hot for me, so I never used it. The concept was similar to the Spawn Quickrod, but without the gears and such. I hadn't heard of Spawn when Jeff and I talked this one out.

Sadly, Jeff pasted away a few years ago. I always thought I'd have plenty of time to get back on my feet and have him build me another one. Hindsight is 20/20 unfortunately.

^ that hurts. I wanted Jeff Seal ( RIP) to hot rod my Traynor Bassmaster. By all accounts over to the Marshall forum, he did outstanding work.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

Stereo 2x25 watt power amp with EL34s. Soldano is the only company I have seen that has pulled this off, with the Hot Rod 25. Everybody else seem to go for EL84s in amps under 50 watt, and they just sound a little too dainty and refined to my ears.
Blackstar's HT-20 (20W/EL34's) and Krank Rev Jr. and the rest of the Jr. family (20W/5881's) predate the Hot Rod 25, AFAIK. Haven't tried the Blackstar, but the Krank kills.

Sounds reasonable.

I have the Blackstar. It’s a great little amp. Obviously at 20w it doesn’t thump like a 100 watter but it’s PLENTY loud and has great tone.

Cool. I wasn't aware of those. I have yet to try a single Blackstar I have thought sounded decent, though.

EDIT: My first post was written half asleep. The HR25 has 5881 tubes, not EL34. Switching should be a simple task, though.

Cameron CCV.....oh, they exist. Quite rare these days though.

Mark will stil make one for you if you really want, or feel comfortable enough to jump into bed with him. There are a handful of others that will make you a CCV too.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

A amp with 3 chanels: Channel 1 is a vox clean channel, Channel 2 is an Orange medium gain channel, and channel three is a 5150 or BE-OD High gain - melt your face off - shredfest

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

I've never seen a 15w amp with ONE EL34. That's a class AB tube... is that even electrically possible? I would think you'd need to use EL84s or something similar.

You can run any pentode in whatever class you want. The type of pentode doesn’t dictate the class of operation, or whether it’s a push pull or single ended design.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

With exception of the mode 4, all of these can be had if you find the right builder.

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

I think they already did mine.

My perfect amp is solid state but sounds tubey and awesome, has tons of headroom, it's simple to use and has both beautiful cleans and a crushing high-gain channel as well. It has an FX loop and it's exactly my bag of tea tonewise.

I'll get my Crush 120 head sooner or later.

Can confirm that the CR120 is a beast of mass destruction which spews chunky tube tones like you would not believe. stupid amazing how realistic the amp is. I love it.

I wouldn’t send him a dime of my hard earned money.

Key... no, very key point in red. Something about a toilet and a reputation and a strange flushing sound...

Re: Amps that don't exist but you want one anyways.

A JCM-800 stack that doesn't upset the neighbors would be nice.

How does it compare to your Rockerverb? I understand the Crush is a quarter of the RV's price, but I'm curious anyway.
Thanks!
