Well, i am looking for an amp, i am goin to be gettin a new guitar within the next few weeks, its a Pearl Black Godin LG :32: , i am looking for the british high gain sound, like Iron Maiden, heres a few amps i have played: tech 21 trademark(not a bad modeler), Peavey XXL(good solid state), marshall plexi(not even funny how nice it was, the sound of beauty), o and i am on a budget: 1000$ canadian AFTER tax, that means like 899.99 canadian and under. sooo shoot away.

P.S: i was impressed with the peaveys crunch channel, and dont even think about telling me to buy the plexi, i wish i could but idont have enough cash, at this moment the peavey XXL was the best besides plexi :yell: :32:

Re: Amps

hey twilight, how are rivera amps for what i am looking for?, i just learned that my local shop sells em lol.

Guitarist, i have not tried the DSL yet, but i am planning to.

Re: Amps

800-1000 us?, if so its outta my range, what are your thoughts on the peave XXL, its a 2x12 combo, i used the clean and ultra channel crunch. For my first impressions that amp sounded quite good for a solid state, your thoughts?

Re: Amps

I'm really anti-SS, so I'm not the right person to ask. As for Peavey ... well, let's put it this way: I've been flamed for my comments about Peavey in the past! :D

Re: Amps

lol i don't blame you for flamin peavey most of there amps deserve it, what would you recommend for what i am playing?

Re: Amps

you mean the flextone?, cause i have tried the spider II, blah not good, i have never played the flextone yet, by the way the budget is 1000$ canadian(after tax) so like 899.99 canadian or under.

Re: Amps

i have played a traynor YCV 40, i didnt like it at all really, was sorta disapointed in it, but i never tried a OD in front of it.

Re: Amps

Somone on the board reacently got a Traynor and made some clips; you can search for it, it wasn't long ago.
I thought it sounded great for rock, and I think with an OD pedal in front of it, you can coax some great metal tones from it. Worth trying, in my book ...

Re: Amps

hmmm... we will see, the pedals i am lookin at are a local "boutique"(i guess u could say that) manufacturer, www.diamondpedals.com, check em out for me and give me your impressions, i thought the clips sounded great, then again ANYTHING sounds good througha Dr.Z :32:

I had a XXL and loved it. I miss it sometimes for the very heavy new metal sounding stuff and its awsome cleans. I currently have a Marshall slash signature and a Marshall Jcm 900. If you are looking for Marshall sounds, I think the Tech 21 is better in the Marshall department but Overall, the Peavey edges it out the Tech 21 in my book for being more versatile.
You cannot go wrong with that Peavey at all. Its a great amp. Alot of folks that played mine were shocked when I told them it was solid state.

Re: Amps

Those are nice pedals!

As for SS gear, I usually use my Roland VG88 going into a Marhshall EL34 100/100. A bit more money than $800, tho ...
