On a road trip for work yesterday, I stopped in to one of my favorite local (but not local to me) music stores and I found this in a pile marked "Cheap Amps":

I played it for a few minutes, noted the scratchy pots, happily paid the $79.99 asking price and walked out the door.
It's in great shape. No rips in the tolex, although there's a bit of brown crud I'll have to scrub off. No rust on the corners or handle. It even included the original 2-button footswitch. I don't mind the scratchy pots, since I know from experience (my son plays a TNT130 bass amp) these early-'80s Peaveys are a cinch to work on.
I've been looking for a deal on one of these for a while, I just needed a reliable, utilitarian amp that complemented my baby Marshall. This one does loud-and-clean really well and gives me reverb on the rare occasions I need it. Also the Line In on the effects loop makes this a great clean-power amp for a modeling multieffects or amp-in-a-box pedal.
This same store had a pair of Special 130s (same amp, twice the power) in stock for a long time. I did my research and decided to buy one of them ($140) on my next visit. Of course, when I went back, both of them were sold. So, I was real happy to find this one for less money. I didn't need tha extra 65 watts anyway.
I'll probably order a Studio Slips padded cover for it to keep it in its present condition. This one's a keeper.
