An idea...

I just got an idea... My band I play with now use D tuning, but it's annoying to have to retune everytime I want to play along with other songs or when my wussie girl friends whines that they can't sing that low.

However, my new guitar Jackson SLSMG, has 24 frets... would it work with intonation if I tuned it in D, and when I wanted a regular tuning I just slam a capo on the second fret? That way I will still have the regular 22 fret when I play with regular tuning.

Re: An idea...

What a coincidence. I just read this a couple days ago from Tom Anderson Guitars website, (in reference to the Baritom Classic):

It’s an all new design from the ground up. He chose a 28 5/8" scale length because it is exactly two frets longer that the traditional 25 1/2" scale you are familiar with--so capoing on the 2nd fret gets you back to normal. Cool huh?

;)

Well I dont use a floyd so that's no problems =). I'll try it and so how it works out. And you know what? Now I can play stuff like guns and roses too! (D#)
