An Incoming NGD on my Birthday! FREE 1971 Fender Strat

Well, I lucked out on something ****ing awesome. I am getting a 1971 Fender Strat for free, with the original case and case candy, as well as the original tremolo arm! Hopefully it will be a great player, it doesn't have the original frets or electronics, but the electronics are included in the case. The guy I'm getting it off is a long time friend of mine and he is retiring the guitar from studio work. I'm JS My Birthday is on the 18th of this month.

It doesn't have the tags, and it is not mint, plus it doesn't have the original frets and electronics. It's a "Player's Grade" vintage Strat.

Well, I'm glad to be the soon to be owner of it. It will probably get some noiseless single coils and a refret as well, since the previous owner who's giving it to me played it in a metal band.

MM, you seem upset. Either he's lying, in which case you lose nothing, or he's not, in which case you still lose nothing. Except maybe the chance to become good friends with him in which case someday, he may just let you play it.

It's just..It's just.. '71 Strat worth a cool 15K w/out too much sweat in players grade shape. I mean, Ive busted my walnuts for 10 years to come up with guitars that can somewhat cop the vibe of the old Strat, and easily spent 10 grand)I will say a lot of my good vibrations with these guitars is that I have them set up to my personal preferred Specs and in my intance modern playing specs), and now the young man says he has the grail. WELL, I hope he does, but forgive me if i have the smallest skepticisism,

Nah. The trick is to use velcro and wiggle it to make sure it stays. If that fails, Elmer's glue.

This '71 is a Sunburst guitar, but I don't have pics yet because I forgot to ask my mate for some. But he did show me the guitar and it does look nice. Once I get it, I am probably either going to keep it as a live guitar, or sell it to get a Gibson Les Paul
