And now, for some Suhr guitars! Pics

Re: And now, for some Suhr guitars! Pics

I'd love to get hold of a Suhr, thought to be honest, there's something about the aesthetics of Tom Anderson guitars that I like better. It's interesting that they haven't been mentioned in this thread.

Apparently Suhr's single coil pickups are the bomb. Mike Landau is on record as saying the v60 is the best single coil he's ever heard, and what that man doesn't know about great single coil tone ain't worth knowing.

For the price of one of those, I'd rather build my own Warmoth. They are great looking guitars.

Suhr's fat T tele pickups are awesome.

Speaking of Andersons, I custom ordered a Hollow Cobra and got it 2 months ago. I've been using it on all my gigs since I got it and it is one awesome axe. Sweet single coil tones (12 to be exact) with no hum or thin banjo tone. The top is incredible!

Hollow Cobras are sweet. Anderson necks are really just absolute perfection.
I especially like the beefier Grosh necks as well. I like the fact that the Buzz Feiten tuning system is built into many of these boutique guitars, not to mention some of them have piezo bridges. I'm glad to see Anderson is cutting down on guitars with the fancy phase/coil switches. I think I've got myself jonesing on that 1st Anderson Droptop, and also the 2nd Suhr on the first page.....the flametop brown one.

i went through so many andersons that i eventually gave up...i kept breaking strings every 3 hours worth of playing...i'm not saying their bad guitars...but for some reason i kept breaking strings...i'd put on a fresh set before a gig and half way through the set i'd break an A or D string...i tried it on 5 different andersons that i owned and sold because of this reason...and these were 10 gauge strings...i gave up...switched to a '03 57 reissue gold top le spaul and haven't broken a string since

Did you talk to the Anderson guys about this? -or try Graph tech saddles?

how much for such a guitar? I mean the first one...

Most of these guitars list for around $4000, and sell for between $2200-$3200
The best deal, of course, is used for between $1350-$2200. Still a lot of money, but when you play a guitar as refined as these, you start to say things like "Jackson Who? Charvel what? Ibanez = Eeeesh! Fender? U wish.

The flipside of the coin is that beauty doesn't always mean it's going to be your best sounding guitar. Playing, probably, but maybe not the tone you're after. Or, you put a ding on the headstock and suffer from a mild stroke, knowing you just devalued it by $800. :smack:

Re: And now, for some Suhr guitars! Pics

Must resist the ultimate Grosh on Ebay....... I'd have to sell three guitars to buy it.

Re: And now, for some Suhr guitars! Pics

That grosh is definitely a display case guitar. That much figured wood is going to make for some very weird resonances.

The cool thing about my Anderson ambitions is I'd be happy to own a solid painted classic. Nowhere near as expensive s/h as a cobra or droptop...

some mighty looking guitars. I wouldn't mind mind a HH Tele with a tremolo. ;)

Actually, a Tom Anderson Hollow Drop Top T would be perfect!

Re: And now, for some Suhr guitars! Pics

I'm happy with my LP's, McCarties, and Strats, but there's a devil on my shoulder telling me to part with a G&L and Schecter in order to snipe one of these.

I hear ya, Hot Grits. The painted ones are much more gigworthy. Imagine playing in front of a bunch of dorks and getting an ice cube or beercan tossed at the top of a Suhr quilt top. NOT good.
