And The Coolest Guitar In Van Halen That Never Gets Talked About Is...........

I saw Van Halen 4 times with David Lee Roth in the 80's. From the 1980 Invasion (Women and Children First) through the 1984 tour. I only remember seeing Roth play this guitar once that I can recall. He played it on "Ice Cream Man". I thought it was cool as hell, and I still do!! I wonder whatever happened to the guitar. I have a feeling he destroyed it. I think it was the Fair Warning tour that I saw them and he was about to smash it at the end of the song, but fortunately a tech ran out onstage and grabbed it out of his hands before he could do so.

How many of yall even knew about this acoustic guitar?

"A Little More Feedback, Johnny......A little More"

I saw it on the Fair Warning tour. I remember reading an article talking about the fact that the only reason Dave could play it was that it was in an open tuning.

Yeah, he played it in an Open E if my memory serves me correct.

That is from the US Festival 1983. I'm standing about 150 feet straight out and slightly to Dave's right.

Life Is Good! :headbang:

I can honestly say I had never seen that guitar before!

That is both hilarious and awesome!

I've never even heard anyone talk about that guitar, let alone seen it. That's too cool!

When I saw them in 80 he used the Davesicle , `81 he used a standard run of the mill acoustic and in `82 it was the glittered out 335 type electric.

I'd say Michael Anthony's Jack Daniels bottle bass.

One guitar I've always wanted to build, just for fun, would be the VHII black/yellow.

Man, I love that vid of Ice Cream Man. Michael and Ed are tight as heck on their vocals.

This missing guitar thread has set me thinking about one of my favourite stage prop guitars. Time to start another thread.

+1 for the JD Bass.

Yep the black and yellow is the best looking guitar Ed ever had, it was such a great gesture to give the guitar to Dimebag.
