I've always used all my boosts and drives into the front of the amp, keeping the loop primarily for delays and reverbs. I don't know what got me thinking on it the other day, but for the first time I put my clean boost (TC Spark Mini) at the tail end of the loop, last thing before the power tubes, and I'm LOVING the results.
Essentially, with guitar volume control, pedal(s) gain, preamp gain, and now power amp boost, I've just got a world of flexibility with minimal tap-dancing (I sing in our three-piece, so have to do pedals by muscle memory).
Just love how there's always something different to try and to learn from!
