The goofy Fender commercial was fine, but this one gets into it pretty well.

Re: Anderton's do-up on the Vaporizer. Ut o....

I went to a couple of music stores recently looking to try this amp out and no one had it ...

Re: Anderton's do-up on the Vaporizer. Ut o....

I have a vaporizer. It makes all of my guitars sound way better.

Interesting video, they did it exactly the way I would, with an external boost pedal. I think it sounded better w the Strat; wonder how it sounds w a humbucker wired in parallel ... would also love to hear it w a character (dirty) boost, like the Naga Viper or Beano Boost.

Honestly, I'm thinking that The Captain and The Monkey Lord have pretty much set the standard for this sort of demo video.

The Vaporizer seems to accentuate that squishy EL84 tone more than I like.

Agreed. I'm glad YouTube kept feeding me the rock on the Andertons channel. Their Minimoog test was great.

i completely agree.
really adds warmth to the tone, without the smokiness.
there's also an unmistakable minty flavour i quite enjoy

Re: Anderton's do-up on the Vaporizer. Ut o....

What I'm seeing/hearing is that the "vaporizer" switch sounds cool but is practically useless in a real world application sense. It bypasses both the volume and tone knob - so if I were to hit it at a gig the sound man would jump out of his skin with the volume jump.

Looks cool, sounds cool, but I've got enough non-master volume amps for a lifetime.

Pretty sad neither could remember Dick Dale's name, good lord.

Re: Anderton's do-up on the Vaporizer. Ut o....

I keep wanting to fall in love with a Pawn Shop amp for some reason, but I can't. They all look so cool, but leave me wanting a better tone.

That new 68 Silverface Deluxe Reverb nags at me though. I already have a vintage Pro Reverb that covers that tone, but still I jones! :32:

Now I see why the long haired dude is usually wearing a bandana of some kind. Hairline: receding.

complete agreement. I like the idea of the Excelsior, but I'd like it more with the features of the Peavey Delta Blues 1x15. I like the Ramparte, but I'd like it more with a switch and an fx-loop instead of the old cable switcharoo into different jacks. I think I'd like this Vaporizer more if it had one more weird 60s gimmick on it like vibrato, or that foot pedal was a fuzz in the preamp instead of a blow switch.

Re: Anderton's do-up on the Vaporizer. Ut o....

The thing I like about them is that they hit left and right of center, compared to most popular designs. They have a raw ragged character that works good for swampy bluesy stuff.

Re: Anderton's do-up on the Vaporizer. Ut o....

Sometimes, I think of finding a cheap used Vaporizer, gutting the board, and building a P to P Deluxe or 18W Marshall into it, using the stock transformers and chassis. It could be pretty cheap to do.
