Re: Announcing the High Voltage Humbucker Set

back in black was recorded in 1980 so id guess that it was the stock bridge pup

Re: Announcing the High Voltage Humbucker Set

I saw AC/DC in 1981. Angus was still using the vintage SG with the vintage Marshall stack. He had no pedal board and mooned the crowd at the end of the show. Malcolm's Gretsch was still new looking with no hole in the middle, yet. It was tough to see the show with all the marijuana smoke. Good times.

Re: Announcing the High Voltage Humbucker Set

Yea , I saw them once in 1979 Long Beach Arena ~ w/ Bon Scott in front

Re: Announcing the High Voltage Humbucker Set

Re: Announcing the High Voltage Humbucker Set

For 5 years or so , I played a stock 71 SG thru a JMP and 4 - 8 celestions, was very Killer ( same smokin' tones

Re: Announcing the High Voltage Humbucker Set

he also only uses celestion greenback speakers. always did.

Re: Announcing the High Voltage Humbucker Set

I just noticed this is a Custom Shop set. I'm bummed these won't be a standard production model, but I'm still excited that Duncan is releasing something new.

Even at CS pricing, they are prolly about the same price as the Gibson Sig pups he had..

wonder if the pups have big balls??? ; )

Re: Announcing the High Voltage Humbucker Set

Page used one too, didn't he?

Indeed. In the bridge of #1 after the double creme PAF died during the australian tour of 72...so post ZOSO through the rest of Zep. My personal faves being the How the West Won and MSG73 recordings. But I'm a live album fanatic...

There are alot of "greenbacks" and greybacks, and creambacks, and blackbacks...g12m lead and bass cones, and g12h lead and bass cones all came with the same magnet caps during their respective period.

Angus is a g12m guy. And most likely Blackbacks, based on the cabs he was seen using back in the day.

Re: Announcing the High Voltage Humbucker Set

1 4x12 I used with the SG had 4 GM70's ( bottom )and the other had 2 JBL's and 2 sidewinders (Iommi or Marino owned it 1st. I forget now) and it sounded Awesome regardless of the Theorists, with said SG . Those 2 were used for Live shows - Cranked Loud.

That would have been post 1983. Not the period I am talking about (or care about for that matter) so if thats what he uses now or since then , thats cool. When he started diddling around with MESA and other stuff (and the albums became even more repetitive) I tuned out. I don't consider that the "classic" period. YMMV.
