Another Nazgul-Pegasus selection thread

Hi there.
I'm choosing new pickups for my soloist (current ones are PG1n and JB) and decided to taste something modern. So my main options are Nazgul and Pegasus. I've listened dozens of youtube videos (also tried stock Nazgul on Schecter KM-6, but it had different polepieces), and Pegasus looks more organic, midrangey and less sizzle, I don't really like pups with lots of harsh highs (like Distortion and Invader, for example) and tend to like alnico more than ceramic.
What do I want form pickups? Current JB fits my jackson really well, very rich sound with mid-range punch and nice texture, but upper-mids are bit screamy, like 80's metal sound. I don't really need this voicing, but I like JBs sweet midrange and want to keep it. Also I'd prefer to have more bass punch, I like low tunings and JB is kinda thin in B standard. Little more lows would be very nice. So as I can tell from what I've heard on Youtube, Pegasus is my primary goal, but Nazgul sounds also cool. What would you suggest?

And another question was about bridge pups spacing. I want to buy set Pegasus/Sentient or Nazgul/Sentient on ebay, but it looks like all that set are in standard, non-tremolo spacing. Are there any sets with trembucker bridge pickups or I must purchase them separately?

Thanks.

Re: Another Nazgul-Pegasus selection thread

The Schecter KM-6 you tried actually had "blackened" Black Winter pickups, not a Nazgul.

With that out of the way, it sounds like a Nazgul is exactly what you're looking for!

It's hotter, tighter and has a bigger bottom end response than the JB, but it still maintains a bit of the JB's upper-mids emphasis without being too strident on top. You should try it!

Yes, you're right, it was Blackened BW set. Sorry, I've got confused with all that countless Merrow Schecters.

So your voice it for Nazgul? Interesting, I've thought that Pegasus will be more suitable because of lower ouput ant darker sound. May be I should think again. Sadly, It's hard to find DIs or good samples (except famous videos by Keith Merrow) of 6-string versions of these pickups.

Re: Another Nazgul-Pegasus selection thread

Honestly if you don't like any harshness, I'd opt for the Pegasus. There are some frequencies that let the Nazgul do what it does so well, but it has been described as harsh. I'd never describe the Pegasus as harsh.

Re: Another Nazgul-Pegasus selection thread

At last i've got my hands on a new Pegasus and looks like unique one :18:
Anyway, so far it sounds cool, not harsh and with acccurate but punchy low end, but I need some more time to get used to it.

That is certainly a rare one! I wonder if there was a whole roll of labels that they had to use up.

Guess I'm either lucky or SD has serious problems with labels. My new sentient, just unboxed:
