Yes, your assumption was correct pretty much, but I plan to do all types of metal. I love Demons and Wizards just as much as I love Nile, and I love Nevermore just as much as I love Opeth. It'll be pretty broad, musically, but I think that will work out well for me.

As for the band... I'd love to keep this one going, but we've got so many weird things going on. The keyboardist and the singer get along, but aren't the best of buds. Also, the keyboardist has an insanely animate, yet strange personality, it's hard to put a finger on. The drummer has ADD and doesn't practice as much as he should, but he said he'd start working a lot harder. The other guitarist lacks common sense, yet still runs the band fairly hard. **** gear, too. I have a feeling that before this school year is over, I will have become fed up with everything.

But, at the rate I'm going...2 songs a month...I could really get something started. I know I could keep my bassist, and have that covered. To start out doing shows, I'd most likely play to backing tracks of drums and another guitar, as well as synths if I decide to add them in. After every show, I could just announce that "hey, I'm looking for a drummer and another guitar player possibly. if you like the material, let me know." I'd need a vocalist, but I might end up just doing it myself. Oh the possibilities...

There aren't that many musicians in your area, are there? No chance of like posting on the net that you're looking for a new band?

I'm quite in a ****ty situation too, there isn't really that much people around here. Originally I had band that had it all, a guitarist/singer, 2nd guitarist, bassist, drummer and even a keyboard player! These days I mostly play with the drummer only. I also have a bassist, but he's not so regular a fellow. And I also hope that I'll suddenly get the combined voice of Glenn Danzig and Freddie Mercury some night soon, cause, you know, somebody's got to sing.

People can change, I'll vouch for that. I once broke my band as nobody seemed to give a **** and train at all. When they noticed that I was serious, they came back. Better that time. But it's hard to get similar minded guys together. Sometimes I wonder how all these bands manage to keep going!

Sounds like me :)

And thanks for the tip about playing with a band opposed to recording on your own- it's good advice. My main problem is that the only other person in the "band" is my drummer who lives a little over an hour away. Supposedly his guitar friend(who's WAAAY better than me) is coming down with him in a week, but who knows about that.

Tons of musicians! You have no idea! They all just suck. And, none of them are really into metal. It's all hardcore and emo ****.
