I'll keep it straight to the point.
I have a penco les paul which is mahogany with some type of laminated top. The neck is mahogany and rosewood. It has more of an sg sound than a fender sound when played acoustically.
The sound I want: Lateralus by Tool. I'm looking for that chunky, well distorted sound.
A couple of other factors: I have a ibanez les paul made very similer to this one which has a custom 5 in the bridge and a pg in the neck, so I would like the penco to compliment the les paul and diversify my sound. Also, I was thinking of going with a ceramic magnet, and wanted to know how much that could get me in the lateralus direction.
**Edit: I would be willing to go with a different brand than seymour duncan if the situation calls for it.
