Another problem with DSL thread. (Sorry)

I figure $400 for the base mods, $50 for extras, $175-ish for a new tranny, $75-ish for new tubes, etc. Personally, I'd ditch the DSL, sell a guitar you're not fond of (or save up), and get a lightly used Bogner Uberschall. They pop up all the time on Ebay for $1700-$1800, and they're hardly used because they're just too brutal for most people.

I don't think I would get the Uberschall mainly because I want a well rounded amp, not just for distortion. Also for cleans but the Ecstacy is too much I think. Thats why I have it narrowed down to

A) getting the DSL modded

or

B) selling the DSL for what I can get and spending extra to get the Mesa.

What do you think I should do? and how much do you think I can get for the DSL?

The Uber has a great clean channel. You can hear the clips @ http://www.bogneramplification.com/MP3.htm. If you're disappointed with the DSL's aggression, I don't think you'd like the Ecstasy any better.

Try a Boss SD-1 before you drop any major bills. Trust me, it adds a whole new level of aggression.

MRID is right. Put a lower gain pre amp tube (5751) in the PI slot to smooth it out, run the ultra mode 1 with gain around 5 or 6 and slam it with an SD-1 (level up/gain down). For $40 or so you could at least give it a try. If you don't like, move on to another amp.

Also to add, please make sure it's biased correctly. It's easy to do with a multi meter. Set it around 42 per side.

Just how long have you had the DSL in question?

I've owned it for about a year and a half, but have been questioning it for about 4-5 months.

You may not have to get a new amp. How bout you keep the DSL and buy a Mesa V-TWIN Distortion Pedal to run through the DSL? I'm wondering if a Mesa Boogie V-TWIN Distortion Pedal would do the trick? Can anyone verify this?...... :burnout:

hmmm...maybe. I think I am most likely going to buy a new amp.

If the DSL isn't aggressive enough, then you're probably going to be disappointed with the V-Twin. Like I said, just spend $40-$50 and get a Boss SD-1 (the yellow one).
