This is one of those one's that was hard to keep real neat and clear. Just be careful, and make sure you don't get any wires crossed.

It can be either. A 3-way lever and a 5-way lever are identical as far as contacts go. Its only the width of the contact blade and the detent mechanism that are different.

You wire them the same.

For the functionality that you want, you'ld use a 5-way.

Thats it wired up now,took 3 attempts to get the wiring correct but got there in the end...Thanks Artie

It took 3 attempts to get it right because i tried to do it when i had my grandsons staying for a few days,so i was getting hassle all the time(they made me make mistakes)thats my excuse anyway.Next time i want to do some wiring i'll lock myself away.
