Antiquities or Seths for my 2000 R9?

Re: Antiquities or Seths for my 2000 R9?

Thanks Luke!

You've all been a great help and I really appreciate the suggestions! I know you can never really tell which pups are best for you until you try them, but you guys are helping this process along quite a bit.

I listened to the youtube video, 59 or Brobucker would be really nice.

Yeah, I was thinking about ordering one. Any suggestion for the neck?

Ant 2 (n) or Seth I'd say. That neck pup tone sounds a bit smooth for a regular 59 I'd think.

Actually a Set of Ant. 2s would be nice all the way around if you don't want to go the CS route.

Thanks everyone! I think I'm set on an Antiquity for the neck. I'm worried that the Antiquity would not be "enough" for the bridge, so maybe a '59 or Brobucker (or a Seth with a full-strength A2 for that matter). If I were to use let's say a nickel covered '59, how "off" would it look next to the aged Antiquity bucker? Do the Antiquity covers clean up a little if need be?

I have a Brobucker and Seth Neck combo in a Les Paul Standard and it is a Great combination. You can't go wrong.

I thought I'd let you guys know that I decided on an Antiquity set for my R9. Just ordered them from Lew and they'll probably be shipped out Saturday. As soon as I get them in my Les Paul I'll give them a full trial and let you guys know how they turned out for me. Thanks again guys!

Re: Antiquities or Seths for my 2000 R9?

My Antiquities from Lew came in really fast - I received them on Tuesday and installed them the same day. Oh man, is this set awesome!!! Absolutely beautiful tones, clean and dirty. Even though I was worried at first that they would not be able to deliver harder rock sounds, I was proven wrong! Kicked with heavy overdrive, these pups still maintained an incredible, smooth tone - the neck pup especially. I found them to be very versatile. Sustain was awesome. The neck measures in at 7.57K and the bridge a REALLY nice 8.74K. I was afraid that the Antiquity bridge wouldn't have enough balls, but mine surely delivers when pushed. I really can't be more happy with this set. I would love to hear what an Antiquity set with aged A5's would sound like, but I am more than satisfied right now. I've decided to keep the covers on for now, but I discovered that the neck is zebra and the bridge is reverse zebra. Thanks for your help, everyone!
