Hey there,

I just recently bought a used Epiphone Les Paul Modell Made in Japan, similiar to the Elitist Series, it came equipped with Seymours Antiquities.
First I thought of maybe swapping them sometime down the road, but now I´m absolutely in love with the thick, hollow Vintage Sound of the Antiquities, hear it for yourself:

by the way, first post here, nice forum!

WOOOW!!! Wellplayed, dude!! Not only a great ad for Duncan quality, but proof that in the right hands, a good amp & good pickup can make a moderate priced guitar glisten with tone. If i didnt own the Ant already, this would have one of the clips that sold me on its superior tone and character.

Amazing is the word I would describe the video, you rock my friend! Great tone!

Hey there,

Amp is my friend´s ENGL Classic Combo, I don´t like the overdriven tones of that amp too much so I used a ZVEX Vexter Box of Rock to get that Breakup sound!

thanks for watching!

Those guitars are, quite simply, GREAT. I have a '61-style SG, MIJ Epi. Same thing as an Elitist or an Orville. (I know this because I bought it to replace my stolen Epi Elitist '61-style SG, and aside from the headstock and pickups, the MIJ Epi was literally identical to the Elitist.) The Elitist has a different headstock shape, though. Orvilles and Epi-Japans have the Gibson shape. IMO, they are built and finished better than Gibsons, but Gibsons have better electronics, nitrocellulose finishes, and more traditional guitar woods. (E.g. Orvilles/Epis/Elitists use African mahogany instead of South American mahogany.)

Is South American Mahogany just the more historical correct choice or can both be compared as one being better than the other?

My Lester is quite light and I love it for not being to dark or heavy sounding.

10 thumbs up for high end epi les pauls. I fell in love with one at a best buy, you just COULDN'T get bad tones out of one.
