Can someone describe the main tonal differences between those 2 pickups?

I'm planning of putting a set in a Les Paul.

My Les Paul has a Neck Antiquity already but somehow those ant's sound a little bit to clean for my taste.

Thanks

57s are bit more aggressive and tight (very tight actually for an A2 pup)-a little crunchy with a little fizz on top- a little more "rock and roll" if you will. Not as sweet or clear sounding as the antiquities.

Re: Antiquities vs '57

I didn't have a '57.

I can tell you that the Ant neck is very "clean" with some extra sparkle that I like. The Seth is a little less so and usually a bit heavier wound. It might do what you want if you want just a touch more and people said the 57 and Seth are much alike.

Overall I am not sure that such a small difference solves your problem. I would get a used '59 and try that one first. It might be too much, that thing is very snorty and can be boomy. But you might have to go that far and if not, used '59 sell easily.

Played a '59 for many years. Great pickup but a little boomy and to muffled sounding to my ears. I'm looking for an OPEN sounding pickup that's wht the Ant-bridge got my interest

Hrrrm. I've always found the 59 pretty open sounding-especially the top end- bright. I agree the bass frequencies-especially in the neck-can get out of hand.

The only time the 59 has sounded muffled to me is in a couple of very dark (a MIA Dean) or sub-par toned (MIK Dean) guitars.

Do you have the stock 300K volume pots in your Les Paul?

'57's are nice, but Antiquities have a richer, fuller sound to them, Very articulate. Probably as close to an actual PAF (decent one, that is) that you'll find.
