Hey Les Paul players!
I want to put new humbuckers in my Les Paul to replace the mushy stock one's. I have so many choices. A guy on this forum (Pstarove) has been helping me out heaps and has educated me to the virtues of the AntQ Humbuckers.
I had a few more things to find out about them... but as Pstarove does not own a set of AntQ HMBr's he could not help me any further.
I am no stranger to AntQ's I have the P-90's in my Goldtop and the Surfers in my Strat...
What I want, is to hear from Les Paul owners who have AntQ P/ups installed.
I want to find out what their capabilities are.
Do they have chunk? and can they grind?
I like the idea of the Antq's and they say they are more 'dimensional', have more 'air' and having a lower output... sound more saturated and less harsh.
But do they still have that PUNCH and CRUNCH that PAF humbuckers are so well known for?
I bought this Les Paul so I can play ROCK on it and PUNK... but I'm not trying to get total death metal of Nu-Metal sounds from it... nothing INDUSTRIAL.
I like The CULT, DANZIG, THE CLASH AC/DC and punk bands Like RANCID, NOFX... that type of thing.... my most favourite guitar band is Neil Young and Crazy Horse.....
I know actual metal bands play ESP or JACKSON or IBANEZ type guitars with EMG P/ups or some kind of hi output ceramic P/ups...
But you should be able to pick up a good les Paul and just rock some heavey chunky riffs right?
the pickups that came stock in my guitar don't quite agree on that last point... but surely the AntQ's would?
So anyone out there playing a bit of drivey, chunky, grinding punk or metal or rock on a set of Antiquity Humbuckers??
Paspallum
