Antiquity P-90. Help!

Hey dudes. What does the SD antiquity P-90 sound like? What kind of guitar do you use it in, and what does it sound like compared to other SD P-90s in your opinion? Is it hot enough for classic rock sounds in the vein of Zeppelin and ACDC? Would it be a goor replacement for a hollow/mahogany bodied bolt-on with a maple neck and rosewood fretboard? Does the A2 Magnet result in a less bright or punchy tone? Is there anywhere that I can find clips of the Ant P-90? Thanks for your help, fellas!

Re: Antiquity P-90. Help!

I've got an Antiquity P-90 in the neck position of my Tele-type; 25.5" Maple neck, basswood or poplar body. It sounds fat & smooth. This guitar is tuned open G, I use it for slide & fretted for Keef type Stones riffs, so I think it works well for old rock & blues tones. I also use much heavier stings on this though, .13 through .56.

Hae not tired an antiquity in the bridge slot, I'm using an SD Vintage P-90 neck unit there. It sounds a little more in yer face & bright.

Hope this helps.

Re: Antiquity P-90. Help!

I have an Antiquity P-90 Dogear (bridge) in a single pickup Les Paul Junior and I just love it. It is a very articulate pickup and the notes just ring out when played with a normal pick attack but if you go with a heavier pick attack you really notice the mid presence and growl that P-90's are famous for. It just oozes tone and for one pickup guitar I am amazed at how versatile this pup is. Take a listen to Mississippi Queen and that is the tone you can expect. To me the output is perfect, in fact, I have a Phat Cat neck pickup in another guitar and that just seems to be a little too overwound as a P-90 so for me so the Antiquities really suit me better.

Thank you badco. That mississipi queen type tone is really what I'm after, and I'm not sure most A5 P-90s can really do it that well. I can get that tone out of a Phat Cat, but that guitar uses A2s. I'm thinking the A2 Antiquity is a good idea.
