Antiquity surfer set

Re: Antiquity surfer set

if you want it to be as close to a real '62 strat as possible get three normal antiquity II surfers. no rw/rp and no custom bridge.

+1. The classic Strat tones I love did not have an overwound bridge pickup or a RW/RP middle. It makes a difference in those notch positions. I prefer them to not be hum cancelling, personally.

Is the set available with a non-RW/RP middle and a regular-output bridge? It'd be a good option to have IMO.

Sure: just buy three neck pickups. But I wouldn't want my guitar to have three neck pickups. And when I play old Strats from the 50's and 60's (and I have) I hate the buzz and the weak bridge pickup. Always have.

To my mind, all the Antiquity Custom Bridge pickup does is make the bridge pickup as loud as the neck pickup and bring it into balance - instead of the bridge pickup sounding quieter than the neck pickup, as it sounds in a 50's or 60's or even 70's Strat.

Who, in their right mind, would want their bridge pickup to sound quieter than than their neck pickup? And who would choose annoying hum & buzz when it can be avoided? At least in the #2 and #4 settings.
