Antiquity Texas Hot Bridge with Fender Texas Specials.

Has anyone else tried to use this combo in their strat only to find the polarity between the two is off? I bought the Antiquity Texas hot bridge to spice up my Fender Highway 1 I had dropped Texas Specials in.

What I did was just use a little compass find out the polarity of the pickup set up rare earth magnets in a vice the opposite direction and start running my pickup through. pretty soon it flipped polarity and was charged to specs.

Here is a video that shows how it can be done sort of. He is just recharging pickup but you get the setup.

I went to this trouble because I really wanted to use my 2 and 4 positions in the studio for quieter dirty tracks.

Yes, that is normal. However, you can switch middle and neck and get hum-cancellation in the notch positions back.

Not sure but I wanted it to function normal and am so happy I did this because before I did the middle and bridge were out of phase.

Uh... Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think my solution was to swap neck and middle (Fender RWRP in the neck) then swap the SD Bridge black and white wires?

Hmmm did you get humbucking in the bridge middle still? It was pretty easy I always test polarity of pickups with a cheap compass and had a set of Rare Earth Magnets for charging. It took very little time and and its polarity was flipped proper facing in the order of the Fender Texas Specials. So I could use the Neck and Middle in their proper positions. The Bridge pickup is awesome at 10k much hotter than a Fender Texas Special bridge which is 7k. The neck and middle Fender Texas Specials are about the same as Texas hots.

Yes. Mine was actually the opposite situation with two Duncan style pickups and one Fender style.

However, now that I'm thinking about it the Texas Hots are wound reverse from other Duncans. Regardless, very interesting solution for your issue. :)

All of these are groundless pickups. If something is out of phase sound wire you can just reverse the wires.

(of course that also reverses the hum-canceling so you first have to arrange them correctly for polarity, then you fix phase problems later)

Re: Antiquity Texas Hot Bridge with Fender Texas Specials.

Yeah I have reversed wires before. This was just to get my 2 and 4 positions working proper otherwise my option was a 3 way. I did wire it with a CRL 5 way, cloth vintage wire and used a dime ceramic cap. First thing I noticed was the cloth wire choked the signal a tad compare to the PVC. I opened it back up with CTS 500k vintage taper volume and 500k tones.

Its the sunburst strat, it started life as a satin but I had it shot with a gloss nitro clear coat and added the blade runner trem. This is before I added the Texas Antiquity. The top picture shows it installed.
