Any country players here?

Re: Any country players here?

I just picked up Steve Trovato - Country Guitar in 6 Weeks. Let's see how I feel about my country chops in 6 weeks.

I know Steve quite well. He was a close friend of my father's. Great guy, and great musician. Not only does he have all the chops in the known universe, but he doesn't ever use them out of place. He is a true musician, who helps craft songs, not just a guitar player with incredibly skilled fingers and no musical sense.

Re: Any country players here?

I want to start learning some more Country stuff too. The first couple years that I played guitar, I played nothing but Bluegrass. Now I mainly play Contemporary Christian and Rock, but I'm wanting to get more into playing Country. My good friends that own the local music shop play nothing but Country and Bluegrass and they are great at it too. I stopped in last week and he let me barrow and few books and tapes to get started with. I might take a few lessons from him too.

Danny Gatton, Brent Mason, and Johnny Hiland all have amazing instructional DVDs. I own a Danny Gatton and have borrowed some others. The problem is I usually just sit and stare, dumbstruck, at their playing and forget I'm supposed to be learning something.

I was waiting for someone to mention Johnny Hiland!

Fan of the style, old and modern players - but can't play a lick.

Too bad - my Epi w/ PG/CC does some righteous clean tones!
