Last year here in Korea as one of major OEM manufacturers “Eun-Sung” or better known SilverStar announced its heyday is gone and has closed subsequently due to financial difficulties, they sold all the there is and prototypes of D’Angelicos and no one knows but tastes like gold stuff. They’ve been around since late 80s producing major brands all over the world.

Around 560USD together with a SD 59 pickup and parts
MIK OEMs are quality products with skilled workers and facilities but sadly yet to lunch successful own brand.

Late night smoking White Russian I wanted to post some random info and stuff.
What'd you got to say about Made In Korea?

I have loved that shape since I first saw it in the Stone Age when it was called the E'Lite. Have owned a couple, but never with a Bigsby.

Kinda like it with mellow PUs for now.
Bunch of LP with Bigsby so why not ;)

I think some killer guitars came out of Korea. The quality is very good. I have a Korean made Alvarez Dana Scoop from 1990 that is very well built. I also have a Korean Dean Hardtail that is very good.

I like the Cadillac shape and if I had a chance to own one I definitely would. Dean had some great, innovative designs.

90s thru 2000s Epiphones built in Korea are considered to be better quality in many aspects than those of now. For example, Peerless is one company now making their own models.
The World music is the manufacturer known of best QC next to MIJ and far superior to MIC.
Chapman? He himself chose them to produce his line ups explains.
We, Koreans are very critical about guitar quality and now MIK out of production models are quite sought after.

Re: Any Dean Cadillac lover?

I have a Korean Cadillac. White Gold. It's a good guitar. Maybe the heaviest axe I own. Haven't played it much lately. It's a bit neck heavy with that big V headstock. In the past, I've wanted one of the Czech made Caddi's but never found a good enough deal to pull the trigger. I passed up a red quilt top Korean Dean Caddi once. It was on ebay for a decent price at the time. It may be a veneer but it was a beautiful quilt top in the photos. Don't like buying without playing first but kind of regret skipping that one. Haven't seen one since.

Hava an 1980 Caddie with a '59 set. Awesome guitar, sustains for days (well, bridge and tailpiece are now a Tonepros set, and got it a TUSQ nut. Stock was already good, though).

Re: Any Dean Cadillac lover?

I personally wouldn't buy either of those models...ugly and disproportionate headstock, neck heavy; "V"=can't play sitting down plus neck dive standing up.

But I have to agree that some really great quality has come out of Korea. I wouldn't hesitate buying a guitar that I liked if it was made in Korea.

I’m with you on all 3 points, but I like the body style enough on the Caddy that I could overlook the headstock.

Hell, who am I kidding? I’d STILL be very willing to add a “V” to the ol’ herd even though they’re not really my thing. I just added a Warlock (complete with the big ugly headstock) because it was such a great deal... and those are one of the dumbest body styles known to man!

I have a few Korean-made guitars... a 2002 Ovation Celebrity Deluxe CS257 FGB, a 2013 Ibanez Artist AR325, and a 2014 BC Rich Perfect 10 Bich. All three are great players and some of the finest quality instruments I own.

Re: Any Dean Cadillac lover?

Welcome! Nice Dean Caddy! I have several Dean Korean made guitars. UNSung is closed? WOW! :eek5:

Aceman at the Dean Owners Jam in 2013. That is a 2003 Dean Open House Cadillac limited edition of 24 I believe. :headbang:

Made in Czech? Interesting.
Is yours white with bindings and gold hardware with flat top?
If so then I chose this after playing both actually 5 or 6..
My guess on the top is unless USA MADE they could be all veneer having had conversations with a manager in the factory making all kinds of Dean including limited editions the prime cost range is quite lower than I supposed.

Czech Deans

Czech Deans

Czech made Deans are 1998 to 2000 made and were ghost built by an old company that had made cellos and violins for decades. Those guitars can be every bit as good as any USA made guitar. The wood and build were excellant.

Re: Any Dean Cadillac lover?

Some other guy that pops up around here named Steve Dallas LOVES some Dean Caddys. :headbang: :headbang: :headbang:
