any experience with Dimarzio Vintage PAF (or Hot Vintage PAF)?

Hi. I've been trying to decide on what to replace the "Duncan Designed" set of pickups that came with my Schecter CSH-1 (a really sweet semi hollow). Tha fact is, its a good sounding guitar already with those (not just my opinion- I sub with a couple different bands, and everybody digs the tone) but I'm sure I could make it better.I dont want any radical, hi gain metal sounds (I like that stuff tho), more like a Santana, Gary Moore sound. I saw A LOT of positive reviews of the Virtual PAF, and was wondering if anybody here has tried them. Any other suggestions would be welcome as well.

Someone said that the VHOT is EQd to give you a thicker sound in the bridge such that it ends up sonding very similar to the neck. This happened to me when I used the VPAF neck with the Air Norton bridge (verrrry similar) because one is sooo bassy and big it makes the brudge very neck-like. Trust me, I make sense as weird as it sounds.

Just had to say be on the look out.

I hear rave reviews about the smoothness of the Air Classics. I must say the Air series has an open-ness and twang that I have always rather enjoyed.

I had an oooold Dimarzio PAF and thought it was good, solid tone. Kinda stiff though and it never wow-ed me.

Ive heard absolute rave reviews about the Virtual PAF neck model in the neck, so much so that ive decided to put one of those in the neck of my les paul and probably a Virtual Hot PAF in the bridge (unless what you were saying above was about the virtual hot paf that it sounds similar to the neck???).

But i dont think you'll be dissapointed with them!

I had them both in my SG....The VPAF Hot has more output and more mids...Both great pickups,but the VPAF N pickup tends to be a bit boomy...

Right now I'm using the Brobucker in place of the VPAF Hot,but I Like the VPAF Hot every bit as much..

I had a set of virtual PAF's in a MIJ 335 copy and I liked them +++++

Didn't have much time to enjoy them though...the guitar
(along with another MIJ 335 copy that I had just rebuilt) was lost in a B&E of our house. The new case for one of the guitars was all of three days old ! Gone !

The rebuilt guitar had German Shadow brand pickups in it...hotter than **** , but quite nice (for $250.00 Canadian...plus some new machine heads & pots)

Never hear anyone mention Shadow brand pups, maybe they aren't common or are inexpensive or something.

Excuse me , I have to run and get some Kleenex.

THEFT FROM MUSICIANS SUCKS!

A CURSE UPON THEM!

I had a Sihouette Special stolen once. The Bridge pickup was similar to a Dimarzio Air Classic (perhaps even a VPAF), as it was a Custom wind made by Dimarzio for that guitar. Amazing pup, very full, thick, and 3d sounding. Esp in that guitar. Great for bluesy or pop sounds. If you ever try those guitars or see those pups, buy them.
