Hey there guys . . .

. . . well, is there any fans of all things Fuzz ?

I have a Big Muff NYC Ri, and a MXR Jimi Hendrix Fuzz Unit (out of production)

http://i59.photobucket.com/albums/g317/bluetone73/whatFUZZ.jpg

I want to get closer to the fuzz-feel of WOLFMOTHER (not copy it, but ballpark !)

Does any one know/own/tested the Vodoolab Superfuzz ?

It is $130 at MF, & their clip (scroll down) sounds good too !
Check it out !

Any info welcome !

If you know of any other fuzz'es that might tickle my fancy, please let me know.

THANX

Re: Any FUZZ-fans among us ? (Voodoolab Superfuzz)

i have one and i does all the fuzz that i need. its not as super sqaure wave as some but its got some buzzsaw to it if it is used as a stand alone distortion generator. used on top of a dirty amp it adds gain, thickness and sustain

the big muff is smoother with more sustain by itself but isnt very fuzzy to my ears.

Re: Any FUZZ-fans among us ? (Voodoolab Superfuzz)

I'm hoping to be a fuzz fan as soon as my Fulltone Ultimate Octave gets here.

Re: Any FUZZ-fans among us ? (Voodoolab Superfuzz)

Yeah i got a couple. My mainstay is a Russian Big Muff. Also use a Park Fuzz Sound from the 70s. Its the same as a 3 knob colour sound. Made in tha same factory as far as i am aware. The Park would probably get closer to the Wolfmother tone. You need something very vintage in character.

I know there is a huge diff. between the "sqaure wave" & "buzz saw" character of the two styles of fuzz . . .

. . . so my question(s) is :

Which type is my Big Muff & MXR Fuzz Unit ?

How do they differ in sound-styles ?

Any samples of the two styles (iow : name a few common fuzzes and what they are)

Thanx again !

. . . maybe it is just me, but i am kinda funny when it comes to dirt-tones !

I love OD & FUZZ, but i seriously disslike almost any type of dist-tones !

By dist. i mean, things like the DS-1 and Rocktron Zombie (even the T-Rex Mudhoney is too distortion-like for me !)

But gimme a fuzz anyday !

Do you know how the Russian differs from my NYC Ri ?

The Park sounds like a sweet fuzz to have !
Are they still avalable ?
Any more info on them ?

Would you know, perhaps what Wolfmother has on their pedal-board ?
Any other pedals that can get me in the ballpark ?

I am also trying to get a JSBX vibe going !
So anything in that direction too ,will halp !

Re: Any FUZZ-fans among us ? (Voodoolab Superfuzz)

Got an old Germanium Schaller fuzz, modded it abit with a trimmer, now it can do all my fave fuzztones:D

Here is yet another fuzz-unit that has got my att. for some time now !

Funnything is, it is not a very popular fuzz, and even the reviews on HCD is very mixed on this, the Fender BLENDER !

http://www.musiciansfriend.com/product/Fender-Fender-Blender-Custom-OctaveFuzz-Pedal-?sku=150350 - scroll down for clips !

I LOVE the idea of a blend knob (i have one on my custom RAT, and it just transform the pedal into such a diverse unit !) and again, i love the clips !

Anyone else know anything about the Fender Blender ?

I know JSBX use the Fender Blender. A mix of octave and fuzz which was recently re-issued.
Here it is: http://www.fender.com/products/search.php?partno=0234500000

Also for vintage sounds check out D*A*M fuzz pedals. Wow, just brilliant modern interpretations of classic fuzzsounds.

Check out the "Meathead" on this page, could be just what you are looking for: http://www.musictoyz.com/guitar/pedals/dam.php

Never knew Jon Spencer used a Blender !!!

Yeah thats correct, its a Kustom Tuck and Roll amp. They are covered in squishy shiny material. Cool amps. Never had time to mess with one though.

Re: Any FUZZ-fans among us ? (Voodoolab Superfuzz)

Hugggeee fuzz fan here. I am currently running a NYC Big Muff and a Diamond Pedals Fireburst(which doubles as a distortion to) and also another fan of D*A*M pedals here. They make me drool on a regular basis.

EDIT: I am really gassing over a D*A*M Sonic Titan, not a fuzz. But still extremely badass.

With you there. Very interested to hear what my new marshall would sound like being punished by the Sonic Titan. Plus, i really want to call my next band that.

D*A*M just got to my attention last week or so . . .

. . . what is their site's address ?

I heard very pos. things about them.

Any other good feedback ?

Re: Any FUZZ-fans among us ? (Voodoolab Superfuzz)

I use the NPN FuzzFoot form FoxRox AND the Homebrew UFO (ult fuzz octave) in Vintage mode on the same board. tons of soudns and tone.

I think both fuzz's favor a slightly dirty sound as their pallet.

Re: Any FUZZ-fans among us ? (Voodoolab Superfuzz)

I'm not a fuzz-fan, but the SD SFX02 Tweak Fuzz is pretty amazing, as far as fuzz goes.

Re: Any FUZZ-fans among us ? (Voodoolab Superfuzz)

i'm going to get a big muff Pi soon. then i'm gonna start my strat project
