Any good “shred” forums?

Does anyone know of a good shred forum?

I want to be able to play like Steve Vai in the Jack Butler scene in Crossroads or like Malmsteen. I’m committing to it for good this time.

I was hoping there might be a good forum I can learn from.

Not really a forum per se but lots of amazing tutorials and resources online. you mentioned Vai and Malmsteen....but is there a specific area you want to work on? And what is your current skill level? I can maybe help point you in the right direction.

I can tell you right now this is going to take a lot of time and dedication. It's fun, but it's hard work too.

Re: Any good “shred” forums?

I’m 49 and I’ve been playing since I’m 12. People think I’m a really great guitarist but I have them fooled because I can cover most hard rock guitarists. I can blaze some pentatonic scales and do some legato. Several times in life I’ve set out to really master shredding though and usually give up. I started again in January and I’m still going strong ...but I’m hitting that point again where I’m not progressing and I don’t want to give up this time. I have a metronome I’ve been using and it has helped. I’ve been doing 2 note per string pentatonic runs, 3 groups at a time (like 3 strings in one box, move up/down to the next box and start the 2 note per string runs on the next string up/down from where I started the last run) ...Robert Bakerish kind of. I’ve worked my way up to 6 notes per beat with the metronome set at 80bpm. But I hit the wall and can’t move past that. I’m watching all kinds of videos on picking techniques etc. I was looking for a forum where guitarists who HAVE mastered it can help guys like me (if one exists).

Yeah, the Troy Grady stuff is definitely the place to be to focus on picking techniques. I would, but I'm too lazy now...

I’m gonna do the $25 a month to start. $200 for a whole year and I might not stick with it doesn’t sound like too good a bargain

That’s what I did.
Once you get access to all of the content on the site, you can go through each section and download the video and tab examples.
I went through the uwps/dwps/twps sections and have it all on my laptop.
The forum is free, you don’t need to be a member to access that. It’s been a little while since I’ve visited there but I pop in now and again.

The Seven String forum is all metal and shred. The Cracking the Code forum is great, too, and if you are into shred, it is worth joining. His videos go into crazy detail how the fastest guitarists do what they do.
