Any happy Digitech Trio+ users here?

I'm thinking one of these would be a great practice and song writing tool.

I would use it both with headphones, and into either a powered speaker like a JBL, or into the 4xKT88 power section of my Matamp into a 4x10 SWR bass cab.

A regular looper pedal would be great without the constraints of pre-programmed drums.

I was thinking of getting a tool like these but I wondered I long will I use it until it becomes boring, or not related to what I want to hear anymore, and end-up in the drawer.

I started looking at GarageBand (I bought an Axe/IO One not long ago) and use my HX Effects to control the transport and track arming.

I use EZ Drummer and my DAW. I can't work with the constraints of something preprogrammed. If the goal is to have something to noodle over, I pull up a random jam track on YouTube. There are piles of them in every possible style, tempo and key.

Wasn't the allure of the Trio+ that you could have a drum machine and loops without worrying about syncing them?

But it is the same patterns. I'd rather just have a looper so I could play any rhythm- I don't need drums to do that. If I just want to play with a jam track, there are millions on YouTube.

I like the trio for practice - I find it waaaay easier to practice with the drum loops in place of a metronome. Works well for doing practice over complex jazz progressions, but can sometimes be a pain in the ass to get the backing track working properly and it doesn't always seem to pick up all the chords Running headphones out it also works well for practice as a portable mini amplifier with some effects when I go travelling.

The effects aren't amazing, but aren't horrible. I thought I'd use it all the time for songwriting, but for me at least it never worked for this - too many options, I just want a guitar and my voice to work out the song.

I had the first /original Trio, very poor SQ. Play anything remotely heavy and everything just kinda got mashed up together. Plus the algorithms did'nt really work/sound appropriate for metal. In the end I preferred my Chinese loop pedal to jam along with. I know the "Plus" is supposed to have addressed this but w/ a pretty hefty price-jump. Nevertheless I often thought of upgrading, but every time I saw one at a store the price had gone up again and I just ended up getting something else...

Yeah, basically I would just get a nice loop pedal instead :bigthumb:
