Any Love for Godin Guitars?

I've never played one but recently see them in the local shop. I researched their site and it seems that they're pretty quality at least the higher end models and the price seems right.

The summit CT really caught my eye as it seems to be LP style with mahogany/maple and ebony fretboard. Also the Icon 3 that comes stock with Lollar P90s.


Any players out there?

The only Godin that I've played was a LG-Sp90. Very similar to the one pictured below. It was a dang nice guitar.

I've played a bunch of Godin guitars and they've all been very good for the money. The Summit CT's are nice . . . ton of tones in them with the HDR thingie.

I have an "Acousticaster" which is a Tele-shaped guitar without magnetic pickups - piezo only - with an onboard L.R. Baggs eq'd preamp. Mine has a set of Thomastik flatwounds on it and it makes a very good jazz guitar. It has just about the perfect neck.
It's fit and finish, and playability are top notch. For what they cost they are a tremendous value (I think they still sell for <$1000).

They are very nicely made and play well. I hate to sound superficial, and this is purely subjective but...I just hate the styling. Cannot get past it...I know...it's just me.

I've noticed this myself a bit. They seem like a bit odd but it seems they have some models that are looking more "normal". I might consider one eventually.

i'm a huge Godin fan and since i bought my Solidac in 2001 it went with me to every gig i did.... it had quite a few tones and fit my rig and needs to a tee... the only time i'd change guitars was for using a Floyd Rose style trem on a few VH tunes....

the Solidac was discontinued so the current XTSA has my sights as a new axe oneday.... i'd love the LGXT oneday in blue if i can find one and afford it! And the current ICON with the P-Rails is also giving me gas... pretty much i love all their models with the mahogany necks...

plus i'm a big fan of their Seagull Acoustics too

The other guitarist in a band I was in had an SP90. I tried very hard to part him from that guitar but he wouldn't go fo it. It was really very nice with a big fat neck that felt great and an awesome tone. Another friend has taken to using Godins instead of the Les Pauls he's used for years.

I always liked 'em but not enough to buy one... quite ashamed actually as I think they're one of the nice canadian companies out there.

LGs are nice but the 25.5'' scale is the deal breaker for me...

I could sure go for a Montreal when I find a nice used one!

A friend of mine has a couple of the Godin Montreals and they sound freakin amazing! I played one of them and fell in love with it. I was looking for one of those when I found my ES-135

Never owned one. Have played them many times over the at a local music store. I never jelled with them, as I'm mainly a Gibson neck person. Would I recommend them, yes. Impressions - they have very good fret work and really nice necks. The overall finish and quality is excellent.

If you want a lower price quality guitar, check out Godins other line, Richmond quitars.
Some of them use SD pickups. The stock pickups dont pretty good also.
These are not imports as they are also made in Canada. Their necks and fret work is done by the same bunch of ladies that does the Godin guitars.

In June 2015. I was in search of a new Strat I was looking at the American made Strat a nice guitar Price was $1,100 dollars Canadian. Then I sat down played the MIM Strat $795 it was a well playing guitar also. I thought I was going to buy the MiM until I picked up the Godin Session Strat. When I started playing the wow factor came into effect. Finally my decision was made. The Godin Strat was the guitar I purchased why? To me it was better quality than the MIM and secondly It ran very close to the made in America Strat. The hardware the finish was just top Quality all the way around. The price at the time of purchase $499.00 CDN best value for my dollar and have a great playing and very well made guitar. Half the price of an American made Strat. Now that left me extra bucks for some other goodies.

The ones I have tried, I really liked. I played an archtop Composer at NAMM, and it was stunning. I even wrote an article about them (although they never responded to my request for an interview).
