Anyone use them?
In what type of guitar?(Strat,Gibby....)
They boast having more sustain and longer life. Is this true??

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

Nothing but pure nickel on all my stuff except my Baritone (can't find any?!).

I'm partial to GHS Burnished Nickels right now but those aren't the only ones I'll use.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

I recently configured my main Burny LP with DR pure blues and Lollar imperials just to give the softer sound a spin.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

I just put some EB Classic Rock and Roll strings on some of my guitars based on the recommendation of a tech I was talking to.

I put 11s on my LP Trad and 10s on my Legacy. I'm taking both guitars to a gig right now actually so we'll how they fare.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

Its just a slightly different flavor. Buy a set and see if you like them.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

Absolutely...EB Rock N Rolls...Have used pure nickel from other brands also.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

Frank Lee had a bunch of strings that He thinks were pure nickel--had Jimi Hendrix's picture on the package. They were nice. He can't locate them now.

Thank you.

I use Pyramid Nickel Classics on my Les Paul and on my newly required Telecaster.
Haven't noticed more sustain. Maybe on the wound strings, and they are the ones that really differ, because the core is round and thinner, thus more nickel wound. They do last a little longer than the D'addario XL's I occasionally use.
The wound strings are not as loud, but I find that to give a very nice string balance on the Les Paul.
Softer and brighter at the same time in my opinion.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

I just notice a bit less metallic tone on the wound strings, a tad less output. I keep the strings wiped down between playings and my hand's aren't seeping acid, so Its basically change the strings every 6 months - no extra life in my case.

I'm not as keen on GHS Nickel Rockers, like Burnished Nickels. Have some of the newer Fender Nickels on deck. D'Addario XL for the Stainless fretted Guits.

Update: Had the gig last night - slayed (if I may be so bold) - and those strings kicked ass. Held tune like a boss after 1 day on my guitar, sounded beautiful, felt great and responsive, and after a night of sweat and snot and probably other contaminates, they show no signs of corrosion.

A winner, I think. I'm going to stick with them for a while.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

I tend to prefer pure nickel to nickel-plated steel. Not a huge difference but enough that I buy it.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

I like nickel, i like the feel and i like the sound. Pyramid are the only company that makes the perfect gauged set for me. However, i juts use dunlops currently cos they are cheap and seem to last longer.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

I like pure-nickel wrap strings a lot. I use them on some of my guitars. I can't remember which ones, and I'm too lazy to look. Except I think the Les Paul and the 7-string Ibanez are among them.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

Thx guys. Your comment are much appreciated.
Just came back and bought a set of DR Blues 10-46.
Will put them on today on my Epi LP.

Re: Any love for Pure Nickel guitar strings??

I dig them for some things, but when I'm onstage, they tend to get lost while I play rhythm with the full band. For leads, they don't make very much difference anyway. I always end up putting some nickel coated steel strings on and am happy again. I guess I just dig having treble that I can get rid of with the tone control.
