Any more reviews on the spider Valve?

JeffB

Let it B
or better yet, clips?

Usually Line6 has all kinds of clips of their stuff, but none for the SV.

I found it very interesting what the guy said the video regarding the "crunch" model how it was designed to be tonally flexible from JTM through SuperBass and up into JMP/800. Sounds wicked cool and right up my alley.

Re: Any more reviews on the spider Valve?

I just played it today AND the Pod X3 thru its Power Amp IN

Cool amp. It's richer than the Flextones I have played, and it sounds better than the Vintage 30. I didn't crank it, but I could kinda imagine a Flextone III sounding a hair less as good with a V30 added.

Re: Any more reviews on the spider Valve?

There was one in stock yesterday when I took back that HRDx, but I didn't have enough time to try it. I'll try to get back next week to try it out.

Hmmm..interesting. I've always said if I get another Line 6 I'd get the flex..but that was before the SpiderValave showed up.

Please do! I can't find one around here. My local shop recently started carrying Line6, but sadly no SVs, and TBH I think they are getting ready to go under so I don't expect any in :(

Re: Any more reviews on the spider Valve?

I've run it through it's paces about 3 times, and I think it's a very worthy amp for $700.

However, if I need tone and power, I just use my Ecstasy. When I play at home, my Valvetronix 60W head does just fine. I haven't even seen the Spider Valve head yet, but I'll keep my eyes open for that. With modelers, I only like heads, so I can use them with any cab.

Re: Any more reviews on the spider Valve?

Not too much to add, but my buddy who is a tone snob and plays a lot of low gain country and blues type stuff played with another guitar player at practice who had a spider valve and he said it sounded really good, which is pretty good coming from him. The guy who played it likes to shred, but was playing low gain stuff with it. Sorry I can't add anything personally as I haven't played one.

Yeah, Joe

I always try to keep my Bogner Shiva in mind while I try out Line 6 gear. It helps keep my expectations reasonable.

I think I am going to go sell the Shiva now, in fact. =)

Re: Any more reviews on the spider Valve?

Because the Line 6/Bogner just came out, this is the perfect time to keep your eyes open for regular Line 6's and Vox's. With people anxious to buy the new one, there's a ton of cheap deals out there on other models.

Keep your eyes open for blue grill Valvetronix heads. I still love that particular model, and it's crazy that Vox discontinued them! If you see one for around $400, jump on it!

I wouldn't sell a Shiva for one. But for another amp BESIDES the Shiva, the Spider Valve is a good one to have.

One thing I noticed is that some of the ones I've tried have a rattling logo/panels. They seem to need some silicon glue behind them.

And my main gripe about the amp is that switching amps can often result in a huge surge of volume....due to presets???? Maybe I need to learn the amp more, but it seems strange that changing things automatically resets a preset.

Re: Any more reviews on the spider Valve?

Heh...well if my neigbors wouldn't mind a cranked amp Joe, I'd have a Stiletto or Vintage Modern, unfortunately thats not the case :laugh2:

My little VOX AD15VT is great for a low volume at home amp and gives me the sounds I need basically. But I'm feeling the need for something different after having it for a couple years now.

Thanks for your input. Would say the Marshall model (as I described in my original post) is that flexible? (i.e. can run the gamut from 60s to early 80s?)

You just need to set (and save)the channel volume by ear on the presets you make so they are at the same level . I dont know why the factory presets werent leveled out very good...but more than presets those are different amp models. I want the spider valve head so bad, I wish they had a 50 or 60 watter along with the 100.
