I live in Los Angeles - and frequent a place called the AMP SHOP. The people there are very hype on this new pickup called the NORDSTRAND.
Out puts are about 8 something k for the regular models and 9.75 (measured ourself) on the HOT bridge model.
As you know, this forum and many makers have decided 10k is the new magical realm for pickups.
You can look them up. It has a very organic sound, big, balanced like something between a Duncan APH1 or 59 and the Dimarzio VPAF smoothness.
Tina always raves how HUGE these pickups sound. I wanted to put it to the test. She brought out someone else's black STEINBERGER guitar, and we A/B'd my PRS with a Custom 5 vs the NORDSTRAND in that tiny guitar thru a Bogner Shiva. We went at it for a while.
The decision was that it was pretty and smooth and very open, with just the right mids (Duncans are hard to nail the mids IMHO, they are either too much or too little) and it made a small guitar sound almost as big as a full sized mahoghony guitar. I was impressed. Esp since I have never been hyped on the Steinbergers. My apologies to the persons guitar who I had a field day with... but trust me everyone there knows it's in good hands with me.
I was wildly impressed with the POSSIBILITIES. I would love to get some input from anyone who has used these very new pickups.
Anyone? *crickets chirp*
