I like Digitech. You can find the used ones with a footswitch for probably under that amount. The last GSP 5 that I picked up I bought for $95. Midi-controllers are about $100-150, used can be found much cheaper.

Just kidding. :laugh2: althought Steve Vai and John Petrucci are the only people I've seen with rack rigs bigger than that.

-You should have seen Living Colour back in the day. When I saw them for the 'stain' tour, Vernon Reid had two racks at least 6 feet high and another about four feet high, and a pedalboard so large that it had two 'wings' off to the side.

My rig is an Axe FX Ultra into a Wharfedale powered PA speaker. I have a few other bits, like a power conditioner and interface, but they're non-essential. It's a very compact, simple, and powerful setup. I've never been happier

By the way, what do you think of the Axe FX ?

It seems everone's now going over to the Eleven rack.

I've happily used a Pod XT pro for years, is it worth the extra outlay to change ?

I may have missed this, but...

Does anyone run a rack up front and then into the FX return of an amp head? I've often wondered about using something like a GSP1101 into the FX return of my DSL 50 (as a power amp). Just wondering how taht would work out...

I saw LC last December in a club venue. Vernon Reid had no choice but to stand very still in amongst all of his pedalboards and computer-driven soft synths.

My own guitar rack system is;
MESA/Boogie Quad pre-amp
MESA/Boogie 20:20 power amp
MESA/Boogie Compact Theile 1x12 cabinets

Wah-wah pedal between guitar and pre-amp.
Delay and Chorus pedals in pre-amp Effect Loop.

I'm in the process of building a rack.

Carvin 6 Space case (The tallest I can fit in my trunk):
Carvin Power Conditioner
Line6 X2 Rackmount Wireless (Just did the deal. On its way)
ADA MP-1 Preamp
Ibanez MSP1000 (Compressor, 15 Band EQ and Notch filter in a single rack space)
2U Blanking Plate

2U Rack case of unknown origin:
Peavey Classic 50/50 power amp.

I'm going to use my POD XT Live as my FX Processor and Midi controller, not going to use the Amp/cab models.

Cabinet is an old SPL 4x12 loaded with Celestion G12T-75s and a Celestion Seventy80s in a X pattern.

I'm going to run the MSP1000 after the output of the MP-1, then into the POD, back to the 50/50 in stereo then into the Cab.


Now I just have to figure out this midi stuff...

I did that when I was in a band - used a Digitech GSP21 Legend preamp into the Return of a Fender RockPro1000 head, then that into a Carvin VE212 cabinet.

It worked well, but since we didn't really need such a wide variety of tones the Legend was capable of, I eventually just got a Digitech TSR-12 fx unit and used the Fender's preamp, but kept the Legend in the rack for the pedalboard to change patches on the TSR via MIDI (since the TSR only had the 3-button footswitch).
