Any passive PUs get pinch harmonics as good as Blackouts?

title says it all. and if you've tried the blackouts you know what I'm talking about. only SDs I've tried are Invaders and Blackouts. Also have guitars with BKPs and EMGs… Blackouts by far outshine any pickup I've tried in the pinch harmonic department. They scream! Any SD passives that can rival them?
BTW…if you are going to say "technique"…just please don't bother replying, as that response is irrelevant and not applicable to my question.

I'd wager there are some that could probably do BETTER. Dimebucker instantly comes to mind.

Super distortion,alternative 8,pearly gates,JB,

Metal for life!!

Mick Thomson Blackouts scream even more than the regular ones. I haven't seen many that I would say are as good as the Blackouts, but I also haven't seen many pickup demos as of late that have actually featured pinch harmonics.

I was gonna say Dimebucker too. I also get some good pinch harmonics from an old Screamin Demon in a poplar RG but it doesn't have the output of the dime or BO's.

Oh and for non-Duncans I really like the DiMarzio D-Activator bridge's harmonics.

I have not played blackouts. However, the SD El Diablo (blade magnet type) I have gets pinch harmonics and harmonics in general to an absolutely ridiculous degree. Technique is the biggest thing though. However, they are very prone to advertise your harmonics. They do this more than any other pickup I have played.

Black winters and Nazgul would also work.

Duncan Distortion. It screams. Harmonics are seriously effortless.

cool! thanks for all the suggestions guys!
wasn't necessarily looking for highest output possible, just looking for something to replace the painkiller set in my Epiphone futura Explorer (mahogany neck and body). been interested in the Black winter set, which sounds kinda like a hyped distortion I've heard?

Looking at vintage output pu's, Dimarzio 36th Ann. has loads of harmonics making it really easy to get some sqeels out.
Of the higher output pu's I've tried, the D-Activators, BKP Nailbombs and Duncan Distortion are really good at that.

I hear you on the Blackouts!

But yeah - my Distortion and PG's are not afraid of them….

Re: Any passive PUs get pinch harmonics as good as Blackouts?

Pearly Gates, Jb... D-activator... and whatever is in the bridge of my lead guitarists EVH... That's just 4 off the the top of my head.

I get pinch harmonics easily both from a Gibson 498T and a Dimarzio Distortion. There are plenty of other mid- and high-output passive pups that can produce pinch harmonics.

Exactly what I was thinking when I opened this thread. My Dimebuckers scream harmonics and hold them forever. Awesome sustain and control.

I'll add the Alternative 8 to this growing list. Oh and Lace Deathbuckers. The Deathbuckers really get the high end.

yeah man, i usually only like ceramic pickups, but I'm pretty interested in the Alt 8. I'm gonna give the black winters a go, putting in an order tomorrow…and I'm probably gonna order an Alt8 also cause I've seen a couple used online for 40-$60

I've seen a couple demos of the El Diablo and the harmonics were insane…but i couldn't get an idea of how it works with rhythm playing cause they were mostly doing lead stuff….. would it work well for fast thrashy stuff, lots of trem picking, mutes, and heavy down picked stuff?

I think it would. Dan Donegan of Disturbed has used it for most of his career, at it's always sounded nice and tight.

I think it would work well. I believe Scott Ian of Anthrax used it. It is oddly much thicker in rhythms than it sounds it would be while playing lead.
