Any Rocktron pedal owners?

I just order the Rocktron Short Timer Delay pedal...

I traded my DD-3 off..and I still needed a delay, but instead of getting another DD-3, I wanted to get something that suited me a little bit more so I did a little searching and found a good pedal, at a low price that did the short delays and slapback that I wanted (specializes in it even) and has some RAVE reviews on harmony-central from people who definitely sound like they know what they're talking about (I learned years ago to weed out the pointless reviews on harmony central).

Just wondered if anyone else had any experience with rocktron pedals in general. I already ordered it, but I'd like to know what I"m getting into, I can always just send it back.

The Short Timer is one of the best-kept secrets in the stompbox world. Ihave one that I'm about to put on my pedalboard. I like it; it does everything I need it to, and it was dirt cheap. ($25 used on eBay, and the guy ended up living ten minutes from me, so he brought it to the house for free. Ha!)

I also like that it's big and green, so it reminds me of my first delay, an MXR Analog Delay circa 1982-ish. I gradated from that to a Boss analog (the little red one) then on to multiple DD-whatevers.

Since I never have a need for delay times above ~350 msec, the Short Timer is fine. The repeats don't cut through like on the Boss digitals, but I think that's an advantage. Physically, it's built OK, but I wouldn't jump on the pots, they're kinda cheezy. It's not built like a Boss, but it costs about 1/4 what a Boss does. Overall, it's a good, serviceable pedal for small $$, perfect for someone like me who doesn't play out any more.

well I do play out a lot but I take care of my pedals. I have them on a hardwood pedalboard and am in hte process of designing a case for them. My biggest concern was quality, but from what I've read this thing, even though it's a digital delay, has a very analog feel and quality to it, would you say the same thing?

It's been 20 years since I played an analog delay, so take my opinion for what it's worth. I'd say yes, it has that analog sound - meaning the highs are rolled off, mostly. It definitely does not have the analog hiss, so it's actually better in that regard.

sweetness...that's totally the vibe I was wanting. I play a lot of blues and blues/rock type stuff...so oodles and oodles of delay are not my bag...I dont' need endless repeats and 1600ms delay or anything like that...just some good slapback and atmospheric delay for leads....

I've been using their Rampage distortion for the last 4 years! Great pedal, never have had any problems. The scoop knob let's you go from full on Marshall midrange blast to scooped preteen death metal!

I have never used a Rocktron pedal but I've owned a few rack pieces and a midi controller made by them.

Rocktron is known for having excellent reverbs and delays and I have no doubt you'll like the pedal. They are also big on top end roll off and ducking in their delays. Reverb and delay ducking attenuates the effect during passages and hits 100% of setting when there is no input to the processor. It definately helps to uncluttr your delayed passages.

I have rocktron zombie rectified distortion for a few months. the best distiortion pedal Ive tried, period. the symmetry (stair) control really does what they say in the description. it can change my crate v16 all tube combo from a classic marshall tone to a decent boogie tone.

sweetness...glad to hear all of these positive feedbacks about Rocktron pedals....I definitely feel like this will meet my delay needs very well and I won't really need another delay pedal unless i change my playing style dramatically

...but maybe not so great for Edge/Andy Summers style echo-against-guitar polyrhythm stuff. Treble rolloff is good - those 80's guys were using Memory Mans (Memory Men?) and MXR Analog Delays and suchlike, and THEY had plenty of treble rolloff.

But ducking could really kill the polyrhythm effect. Does anybody know if the Short Timer has it?

I really need to finish my pedal board rebuild, and find a new practice room so I can play with this stuff more.

I have a short timer delay on my pedal board, great pedal it does the short delay thing really well if thats all you want, it sounds awesome and adds a nice touch of reverb and defintely adds fullness to tbis mix. Sort of sounds like dave gilmours pink floyd sound.

In the Rocktron rack units, the ducking is variable from 0-100%.

I'll read up on the pedal.

thanks for all the input guys, I feel a lot more confident about my purchase now I hate buying gear without trying it, but with the nearest major music store being 2 and a half hours away, it's hard to try a lot of gear so I have to trust other people....nobody's really steered me wrong yet!
