Any Schecter fans out there?

Re: Any Schecter fans out there?

I like Schecter quite a bit. I've never owned one, but if I were looking for an all-around dual-humbucker solidbody in the not-too-expensive price range, I'd look pretty hard at them. Usually when I go to GC and want to try an amp or a pedal, my first choice in a guitar (that I think they'll actually have) is a hardtail Schecter with Duncans. I remember a few years ago, thinking their seven-string necks were too wide for my liking, but I haven't tried one of their sevens in a while.

Re: Any Schecter fans out there?

Had a Hellraiser C-7. Plagued with some fret work issues unfortunately, but otherwise a great guitar. As far as I know, some Schecters from about 4-5 years ago had some fretwork issues, but I think it's been mostly solved now.
I had a Loomis JLV 7 string in my possession for a short time. While I'm not a flying V guy at all and it had some neck dive issues, I couldn't help but admit it was a really great guitar. Dunlop 6000 frets from factory made string bending an absolute pleasure and despite the very 'metal' aesthetic of the guitar, found myself playing quite a lot of blues rock style stuff on it :D
Have extensive experience with a friends Blackjack ATX 7 string and it's a great guitar

Re: Any Schecter fans out there?

I've got two of them, one is a '99 C-7 with Duncan Designed pups. The other is an '05 Blackjack that I found in a pawn shop for less than 2 bills, that has a '59 in the neck and a JB in the bridge wired to a super 5 switch. I replaced the volume on the C-7 with a push/pull that switches the neck pup from series to parallel. I replaced the tone cap in both of them with 0.047 Orange Drops. The C-7 has good tone but I may change out the Duncan Designed for real Duncans at some point. I'm getting ready to swap the magnet in the bridge pup to see if that gives me a bit more tightness to the bottom. The Blackjack has ridiculously good tone that you can hear even when it's not plugged in. I think it has a set neck, but the heel joint along with the sustain it has, makes me wonder if it isn't a neck through. I'm tempted to put an A8 in the JB but I'm not sure that I want to mess with it.
