After many years of loyalty I'm officially a convert from DiMarzio to Duncan and am planning on putting PATB pickups in most of my guitars, but I'm toying with the idea of getting something special made for my ESP M-II.
I was just wondering if there's a certain way to communicate my ideas to the custom shop to get the best result. I'm afraid if I communicate tonal ideas in abstract terms, things could get lost in translation, whereas if I describe things on a more technical side, I may end up handcuffing them.
Maybe I'm being a bit OCD, after all, the custom shop is the best of the best and I've never read a bad review for anything they've done, but it would be more money than I've ever spent on a single pickup before so I'd want to make sure to get things right.
