Any V guys here? Post 'em up...

Re: Any V guys here? Post 'em up...

RR1's are hot. I think a nice RR1T or even an RR1 with a real Floyd may be next on my list.

I've got one nearly identical to that, and I love it! The last owner put a Seth neck in the bridge with gold pole pieces so that it matches the 496r in the neck. The 496r is garbage, so I'll eventually change that, but the SethN in the bridge is surprisingly not too shabby. I originally was going to put a hot A5 in the bridge (I was going to put an A5 in an EVH I have laying around -- hoping for a Schenker tone), but I might just try a Seth bridge instead.

The current tone is similar to ZZ Top's "Just got paid". It's a great tone, but I'm not sure if I want that or a clearer A5 tone like Schenker. Maybe I'll have to have one of each!

Nice bunch o' Vs!

My first "real" guitar was a Gibson '67 reissue V that I bought as a teenager in 90 or 91. Played that guitar a ton. Was stolen after a party one night, never to be seen again....

The guitar I had before that was a Squier (by Fender) Katana, which was kind of like a V with the bottom leg cut off.

So you prefer the subtle, understated finishes then? The kind of guy that doesn't want to draw attention to himself. :9:

Yeah, I was thinking maybe a fluorescent green bass boat flake zebra print V to round out the animal prints. Can't find any any fluorescent green bass boat flake though. Guess I'll have to stick to the mundane stuff I already have.

Speaking of understated finishes:

'84 Gibson Graphic V. The bastardized wiggle stick was replaced with a stop tailpiece a couple of years ago. The neck pup is a Gibson Superhumbucker and the bridge is a SD Full Shred. The frets are Dunlop 6000s.

Re: Any V guys here? Post 'em up...

Here's my Washburn USA Custom Shop Pop Top PT3. It was a beast of a guitar it weighed a ton and the case barely fit in my trunk. It was solid mahogany body and neck, Ebony board, Grovers, Duncan Distortion Bridge and 59 Neck and it had a super thin piece of Aluminum layed over the top with that uber flashy pattern. That sh!t chugged like a Freight Train...I miss it...sold it on the Bay for $700 to help pay off my current favorite axe in my collection (Jackon USA SLATQ). If I can find one for sale, I would snatch it up in a millisecond, but they don't come up often.
