Any Very good/Cheap 50 Watt heads out there?

As you all know by now, I do not have much money.

Im looking for a descent head to run some pedals into.

For under $300.

Wish I could get something with tubes but thats prolly crazy thinking.
Btw would my roland 60watt cube push a 4x12 cab(Its 60watt)? And how do they hook up?

I know it has an ext speaker output thats just like a guitar jack.

you could get a used jcm800 50 watter all tube head for about $400 on ebay

and $400 for a JCM800? Are you kidding me? thats what I want big time, but still $400 is out of reach.

P.S. Condition doesnt bother me, just as long as it works and sounds good.

bassman, any of them, the silverface ones are your best option for pedals, they stay clean longer than the blackface/blonde/tweed ones

i got my 100 for $300 ebay, and my 50 for $300 at a local shop. The 100 needed new tubes & a cap job but eh, big deal

Try a Hughes & Kettner Tube 50, 2 channels, okay clean, very good overdrive, reberb. Where I live they go for about $ 300 used.

Carvin MTS heads go cheap on ebay, around $300 or so. They are damn fine amps and have a good clean channel and crunch like hell. They are tube heads.

The MC100DFX dont seem like its that unreasonable for the sound.

But yea, that AVT is a joke.

I dont think marshalls are low quality, but for the price you can get freakin hand made amps.

actually they sell the half stack for like$ 1300 new , are they crazy ? for that kind of cash i can get a nice used mesa single rec 50 watter with a matching

Peavey Classic 50 combo or Classic 100 head.
Carvin tube heads
Ampeg Tube heads
Old Peavey tube heads
Laney tube heads

Then, after you buy it, set aside another $50-$70 for ALL new tubes, and it'll be like new again.

GJ hit a bunch of them right on the head. I was going to suggest the Sovtek head....some of them sound really, really decent. And don't be too concerned about buying on eBay....it increases your chances of finding what you want at a decent price. Just make sure the seller has good feedback and ask any questions up front.

What would be the best to use with my marshall over drive pedal to maintain it's tone?

Or will that pedal make anything sound pretty much the same on a clean channel?
Just wanting to know, I dont want to end up sounding like some country player lol.

Still new to the whole head and cab idea, I just want to end into it on budget.


Btw, I was just looking around and found some old Sovtek tube on my book shelf, ill have to get its number.

I found an MIG-60 for $168 And it seems to be in good shape.

Also, Laney AOR's are like a more gainy and low endy JCM800 for cheeeap.

I say the Laney GH50L. 50 watt head, probably can find them used for around $300, but the AOR would be cheaper.
