Anybody else have a boner for the new James Tyler Variaxes?

Re: Anybody else have a boner for the new James Tyler Variaxes?

I find it inexcusable that the shredder model doesn't have a Floyd (well, in truth I know they're working on it but still have some kinks to iron out).

Other than that I dig 'em :)

This makes the Firbird X even harder to understand. If you're going to do something radical with a guitar this is more like it. Don't Gibson pay any attention to their competition ? The Firebird X looks even more like something that was produced in the sixties and was considered a joke even then.

If they were JUST guitars - I wouldn't be falling over myself to get one. The are unbelieveably meh IMO.

That said - I will never poo-poo digital and totally recognize their 'tool' value. If it makes a great sound, it makes a great sound.

Have you heard of the 'Rackvax'. Supposedly there is a company that can put the guts of a variax in rack form and then you use a midi pickup (with piezos in the bridge, or any add-on roland pickup) to ultilise the sounds.

Seems like a better idea than buying a whole new guitar or cutting a huge hole in another to do a transplant.

The idea of building a guitar from the ground up as a stealth Variax, or cutting a huge hole in an existing guitar to become a Variax is really, really appealing to me
