Anybody Else Here A Big Fan Of Stratocasters With Bound Bodies?

Re: Anybody Else Here A Big Fan Of Stratocasters With Bound Bodies?

I like 'em as long as there is no forearm contour (like a Tele). With the contour, they look weird to me.

I'm not a huge Strat fan but I can dig the bound Strat look.

The binding itself looks great to me. Thing is, they need custom pickguards, or else they look retarded. Regular Strat guards are pulled in a bit from the edges of the body, to clear the big roundover used on Strats. It looks fine visually, because the pickguard is still close to where the roundover starts. But with binding, there is a very small roundover, about 1/4 the size of the normal Strat one, if that. The normal Strat guard needs to be expanded to be closer to the edge in this case, or else it looks funky; the body looks oversized for the guard. Or, even better, bring in the edges of the body by about 3/16" to match the normal guard, and end up with a slightly smaller and lighter body that has a hair more upper fret access.

Whoever made this one made the guard and the body line up better. None of the others did.

I dont mind them. I think for me it would work better with no pickguard. And HS

Nah, the regular guard looks just fine.
Its the same distance all the way around the edge, just a different distance.

Quite frankly having the guard further away from the binding is better as the two don't visually clash.

I kinda prefer the classic rounded strat thing, binding starts to make a strat look more like something Gibson would be pushing.

< Yep. Carved top on my Schecter C-1+ doesn't need a forearm contour.

Re: Anybody Else Here A Big Fan Of Stratocasters With Bound Bodies?

Never saw a Strat with a bound body before, very interesting...

Re: Anybody Else Here A Big Fan Of Stratocasters With Bound Bodies?

Check out some of G&L's options. They offer their "strat" bodies with the PRS-style faux binding.

I prefer strats with bound necks over bound bodies. Teles on the other hand I think look good bound

Love 'em. But love bound Tele's even more.

Re: Anybody Else Here A Big Fan Of Stratocasters With Bound Bodies?

I like bound Teles, but my Strats gotta be contoured. With binding they don't look like Strats.

Re: Anybody Else Here A Big Fan Of Stratocasters With Bound Bodies?

binding kinda looks like a tele to me
I like binding on tele's

the binding is what made me want my RG's
bound bodies and necks

but not with a pickguard

no.no.......no

Re: Anybody Else Here A Big Fan Of Stratocasters With Bound Bodies?

I like them... prefer the regular, but I do think bound ones are sexy.

Re: Anybody Else Here A Big Fan Of Stratocasters With Bound Bodies?
